“1980 Room and Hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2015

Terribly run down place. Looks like it was built in 1980 and nothing was done since then. Musty mold smell throughout. Cockroach in my room. Old wicker furniture - no two pieces the same. Old bathroom. US$10.00 extra for wifi per device. Staff service was good. Helpful when they could be.

Room Tip: Ask for a recently refurbished room. There are 6 apparently. I did not get one.

Close enough to the town. We walked every night to go out. The shuttle will take you and pick you up during the day. It is nice having the beach right outside. It is a nice beach.
My son played on the swings and loved the sand. Sunsets were amazing.
the hotel needs work. The service sucks. Food is very american and not all that. Better value in the city. The ac kind of worked. We did have hot water. My friend got a bad reaction to the pool which was never treated while we were there. Alot of the equipment in the fitness center was not working. The best things were the location and beach.

Location is oke. Just a view minutes walk from Fort Rif. From here, just take the 'pondjesbrug' to Willemstad.

Rooms are basic and old. Roomkey is often not working. Also really noisy.

Old bathroom. Just not worth the 4 stars.

Pool, breakfast and little bay are okay.

This place is terrible. Nobody was cleaning anything for hours. The beach bathrooms are the worst and dirtiest thing I've ever seen. The place was empty. Only a couple of American guys. If your standard are non existent or you don't mind staying under a bridge this is perfect for you. The management is NON existent. And they seems to be out of employees. Thy should close this place. The internet charge is outrageous! 10 bucks per day or 60$ per week. In downtown you will get free wifi. Just go somewhere else please.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014 via mobile

I was in curaçao for Presidents' Day and stayed here for part of the trip. I have stayed here before several years back and it was okay at that point. I decided to stay again because it is one of the most inexpensive options. It was very old the first time around and it was a bit worse than the first time. The staff are friendly and nice but this hotel does need major renovations. The rooms are resemble motels I have stayed at while traveling the states. I would not recommend. Unless it was an amazing deal, I would not stay here again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2014

Spent 9 days there, June 15-24. Check in was smooth and painless. Was offered a courtesy drink, but did not receive any documents about the property ie: restaurants, services offered. During the course of my visit received friendly service from Sue, Glenda, and H D Rojas aka Harold Rojas aka "little Pedro." The room was spacious with two queen size beds. Sleep quality was excellent. A table with lamp separated the two beds. There was a desk, chair and lamp; two whicker chairs; refrigerator with a rusted lamp shade to see what you put in the fridge; and spacious bureau with older tv. Cable selection was good. Housekeeping did a good job and they were HONEST! AC worked well. Bathroom had sufficient towels and toiletries. Hot water was always available in about 5-10 seconds. Outside, there was a spacious pool with water depth at 3-9 feet. Unfortunately, it was overrun with kids. Quiet was not an option. There is a dive shop, restaurant, and private beach on the property.
The adjoining casino is a DUMP!! Entering from the hotel, you are greeted by a "land-fill" of slot machines piled in the right corner. It's smokey as they voted to reinstate the cancer-causing habit. The slot machines are very poorly maintained if at all. The buttons on many were not operational while the screens were barely visible. Workers stood around doing little or NOTHING on the casino floor. The sports book contained 11 tables allowing viewing of soccer, baseball, and horse racing. Pinnacle ran the book.
It's a 20-minute walk to downtown. Cab fare is $30 from the airport.
