The floating market is a string of about a dozen Portuguese vendors who dock their wooden boats at the Punda waterfront to sell fresh fruit and fish. Even if you are not buying food, it is a fun place to walk through on a weekday as sellers display and market their goods from behind a block-long wooden outdoor "storefront" (plywood table). Some package a handful of fruit and stand out front shaking the baggie, announcing the price. A look "behind the curtain" - on the back side of the market - reveals colorful boats and boat life, full of character---and characters.
