“Fresh fruit and fish - unique concept”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

The floating market is a string of about a dozen Portuguese vendors who dock their wooden boats at the Punda waterfront to sell fresh fruit and fish. Even if you are not buying food, it is a fun place to walk through on a weekday as sellers display and market their goods from behind a block-long wooden outdoor "storefront" (plywood table). Some package a handful of fruit and stand out front shaking the baggie, announcing the price. A look "behind the curtain" - on the back side of the market - reveals colorful boats and boat life, full of character---and characters.

“Great place to stock up on fruits and snacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

It's fun to see, easy to find, and the prices are good. A little odd that the oranges we bought were from Spain--are there no oranges closer by?

“Venezuelan vegetables and fruit in the floating market”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

The Venezuelans bring their fruit, vegetables, fish and other goods to sell in Willemstad. They travel over twelve hours in their boats to sell their goods.
Best view of the floating market boats is from the bridge across from the main market in Willemstad. The walk on the pavement seeing the vendors sell their goods is amazing sight and well worth taking some lovely photos as memoirs.

“A must-see on your trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

It was closed for the independance day on 10-10-12 when we were there so there weren't many vendors but we had a great time and bought lots of little trinkets to take back with us. The vendors were fair and we got some good deals. You can get fresh vegetables and fruit right off the boat here, too. Downtown is just a quick walk across the street so find a decent place to park and make an afternoon of it. Boats come in often with fresh fish and we saw little old men fishing right off the pier here and they were catching tangs to take home and eat and some to sell. There is plenty of parking on the other bank of the bay and you can walk across the floating bridge to the market, past the Iguana Cafe. Grab a cuban cigar and some Dutch cheese on the way back to the car!

“For adventurous taste buds only- except the fruit!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Many of the foods sold here are somewhat different from those that are usually eaten and the freshness of them is kind of debatable. COME EARLY FOR THE FISH!!! By 11 all the good fish are gone and there's flies all around them so that's kind of disgusting. Still, the fruit is delicious, so come to get fresh fruit!!! Many of the Venezuelan vendors don't speak a word, so they take advantage of you- i.e., one mango turns into one kilo of mangoes. I had to use my limited Spanish skills, but they were actually enough.

If you have taken basic Spanish that will be useful.
