Loved the location near Petermaai. Mostly Dutch side of island. Walking distance to restaurants and hotel had music at bars and blues club. Rooms had great ocean view. Nice beach and reefs off beach. We stayed in room 406 in oxtagon wing. Highly recommend.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It will only take you 15 min to walk to Punda. If you prefer not to walk, you will have the choice of the local minibus. It will take you there in a few minutes for 2 NAF / 1,3 USD - They run all the time, so just stop one. The hotel beach is very nice and the local "reef" is perfect for snorkelling. We did book a room in the Blues wing, but had a upgrade for one of the suites. Thanks to all the nice Reception staff. The service from reception team is in the absolute world class elite. - Everything will be handled with a great smile and hosptality. Maybe it isn't fair to pick out one member of the reception staff, but Jennifer is really something special. Thank you for doing our holiday even better with your big smile and friendly attitude. The hotel grounds are always very clean and well maintained. The rooms are comfortable and include all you would need for the stay. - This is really the Avila Experience. - A great choice in Curacao...Maybe THE choice !!

High quality hotel, 15-20 minutus from centre of Willemstad by walking.
Rather small beach area, but nice. Chairs and towels available for free.
No shops and only 1 affortable restaurant nearby, walking distance.
Quality in Jazz restaurant and choice is poor. Expensive wine list.

Room Tip: Choose, ask for Octagon Wing highest level. Then you have a good ocean view.

Currently staying at a B&B. Inquired about a beach/pool day pass and were told we could purchase a pass for $9 US each. When we arrived we were informed the passes were beach access only, not the pool. There are excellent beaches just 30 minutes drive away. We were seeking a leisurely day by the pool with drinks and lunch, but were not allowed access. Just a short walk up the road we paid $7 each US for all day access to oceanfront infinity pool with a full bar, restaurant, and excellent service at Saint Tropez Ocean Club.

Dear Francis,

Thank you very much for visiting the Avila Hotel during your stay on Curacao. However, we are sorry to hear that you were misinformed about our Beach Pass.

The reason we call our day pass a Beach Pass is because we want to prevent confusion about it and clarify that it will only give you access to our private beach as our pool is exclusively reserved for hotel guests. We apologize for this misunderstanding.

Although you were excited for a pool day, we wish you would have stayed at/or return to our hotel for a relaxing day at our beach. That way you could experience our white sandy beach, refreshing drinks and tasty lunches and snacks at our unique Schooner Bar or Pool Bar. In addition, we offer all day pass visitors complimentary Wi-Fi and a beach chair; quite a nice package for only US $9 per person we believe.

All in all, we hope that you have a pleasant stay in your Bed & Breakfast and that you're enjoying our beautiful island. We look forward to welcoming you to our hotel in the future!

Sunny regards,

My wife and I have stayed at the Avila Hotel now for the second time and have loved our experience there. From friendly staff to beautiful manicured gardens and grounds it is a true caribbean paradise. Curacao itself is a gem, clean and friendly and safe with very little of the typical poverty seen in the islands and what appear to be a well educated populace with an abundance of culture and all the appeal of Dutch living around the city without the gray and frigid Dutch climate. The restaurants at the hotel were wonderful and reasonably priced and one could spend their entire vacation at the hotel and have a great time. However, the staff at the Avila is amazing at helping with reservations and accommodating with concierge service and arranging reservations at restaurants near and far on the island. The beaches were amazing and the pool was spectacular, the water on this Caribbean Island is probably the most beautiful I have ever seen and I have been all over the Caribbean. The only complaint was the AC was as Nikonaut put it on hyperdrive lol. The room was so cold that you would open the windows and the whole room would fog up and condense into a full on cumulus cloud, given the nice fresh tradewinds one could get by without such turbocharged A/C but it is a minor complaint that can be rectified by the nice soft linens provided by the hotel, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone to stay at in Curacao. The rooms are really nice especially the oceanside rooms, but the Octagon is also a great value for the money.

Room Tip: For a few extra buck you can stay oceanside on the protected Caribbean inlet that is well worth it.

Hi there,
I was not able to fill out my comment card prior to our departure, so I thought I’d write you a short note. We stayed in the Jazz Wing, in room 186. We had an amazing stay, and will be back for sure. Nothing can be improved upon, and it goes without saying that Nic is running a tight ship. As a business owner, I understand how staff comes part of an extended family, and this is how you feel when you are in the hotel.
The highlight of our trip was dinner on the beach served by Adeal. It was the best meal my wife and I have ever enjoyed. Schooner bar is awesome, and the food was superb. Hats off the Chef, and well as his assist’s. Joele, in the spa was GREAT, and the gym assistant was very helpful. This is a task not easily fulfilled. The rooms were great, and my only complaint is that we did not stay longer.

Peace

It would be perfectly possible to spend a week at this hotel, never leave the grounds and have a complete Caribbean experience.

The rooms, at least in the Ocagon wing, like most places indoor on Curacao, give you two temperature choices: HOT or Ice cold. There are no temperature settings on the air con, so you end up either being too cold or too hot.

Avila Hotel has two private beaches, both of which seem small, but are sheltered and offer a surprising variety of fish, from the smallest to barracudas, you can buy a snorkel at the hotel. Of course there are other, more beautiful beaches on Curacao, and the hotel is happy to arrange tours of the island or rent you a car.

For food, there are at least two options for every meal, but it is smart to book tables for the special nights at the Blues cafe, even in the low season. Service is with a smile, but not allways with great speed.

It is easy to walk to the centre of Willemstad, but the hotel offers a shuttle. Beware of the caribbean timing of the shuttle. We experienced watching the shuttle leave whilst crossing the Queen Emma bridge, and the clock on the Punda side was showing we had a few minutes to spare. The day before, the car was 10 minutes late.

If I return to the Caribbean, I will most propably visit another island, to get new experiences. If I return to Curacao, I will return to Avila :-)

Room Tip: The Blues Wing is slightly more expesive, but it is where I would stay the next time. The views from...
