My wife and I recently completed three weeks of a planned two week stay on Curacao. We stayed for one week at the Royal Sea Aquarium Resort (which was also very nice) and then were booked for a one week stay at Limestone Holiday in a one bedroom cottage.

Just before moving from the Sea Aquarium to Limestone Holiday, I developed "Diver's Ear" which did not improve as the week at Limestone progressed. At any rate, after seeing a local physician it was evident that I would be unable to fly home on our scheduled departure date and that we would somehow have to arrange for an additional week's accomodations.

Silvia and Roel Jungslager, our hosts at Limestone were simply magnificent! First, they arranged an additional week for us at Limestone, moving us from our one bedroom unit to a more expensive two bedroom unit. They then proceeded to charge us for the two bedroom unit at only the same rate which we had paid for our one bedroom unit. We were at their mercy and they showed us nothing but kindness. They also were invaluable in re-arranging our schedule, suggesting physicians, printing out new boarding passes for our revised flight, etc. All this over and above the careful and personal attention which they seemed to provide for all their other quests.

The one bedroom unit which we occupied for the first week offered basic comfort and cooking facilities (including air conditioning in the bedroom which we never used) and was more than adequate for my wife and I. The two bedroom unit which we occupied for the second week was more luxurious upscale, and newer. Both units had patio/balconies overlooking Silvia's beautiful gardens (and Christmas decorations) and Limestone's private beach on Spanish Waters.

Both of the units came complete with a well maintained car, and while the Limestone internet site indicates that Limestone is "somewhat off the beaten path", we found the location to be great allowing privacy but still close to many areas of interest and necessity.

All in all, very good value for the money in terms of physical facilities and Great Value for any money in terms of the friendship, helpfullness and concern of Silvia and Roel and all their staff!

Stayed here with my husband over Thanksgiving and found it the perfect base from which to explore the island. A hire car is included, which is incredibly convenient and the best way to see Curacao.
Our apartment included a kitchenette, living room, bedroom and bathroom with shower. It was clean and comfortable. We ate all our meals (and drank all our beers) on a table on the balcony, overlooking the beach and bay.
Woke up each morning to rustling palm trees, the gentle slap of lanyards on yacht masks, and music drifting across the water.
There is a fine dining restaurant within walking distance, and another unique, casual dining experience, floating on pontoons, at a close by marina.
The hosts are friendly and keen for a chat. The setting transports you right into tropical mode: they've made a real effort to make Limestone feel like a carefree, easy going place. The trees, succulents and flowers make you feel like you're not tucked in the suburbs.
This is the ideal place to stay when you're not looking for anything fancy, just a reliable, comfortable place to call home for several nights.

“Family Run & Friendly”

Limestone Holiday Resort

Nov 26, 2007

We have just returned from a 2 week honeymoon at Limestone. It really is a very nice place to stay, it's small and family run so there's none of the anonymity of a big faceless resort. It's in a lovely part of the island, Spanish Water, with lots of world-travelling yachts anchored offshore to look at.

the nearest restaurant, The Boathouse, is excellent, it's within 5 mins walk and we went back there several times. Limestone is about 30 mins drive from the city, but there are several places to eat between Spanish Water and the city - get hold of the (free) Big Red Restaurant
guide, and it's packed with great suggestions.

So, any downsides? The apartment we had was quite small, just one bedroom. I had expected a separate sitting room, but instead it was more like a studio than an apartment, so if you specifically want a seperate sitting area I suggest you ask for it. We had a TV and DVD player, for example, but nowhere comfortable to sit and watch it except on our bed.

the only other thing I would have liked is some toiletries - there wasn't even soap in the bathroom. I knew we weren't renting a luxury place, but ..... this type of small luxury would be nice :)

Overall, however, I would totally recommend the place. The owners are very helpful and friendly, the place is clean and safe and very pleasant. The car rental was great, and very good value. Great view over the water, not too many mosquitoes (our bed had a net, and once we used it we didn't get bitten at all). Great place for a getaway or a family holiday.

“Great time at Limestone Holiday”

Limestone Holiday Resort

Nov 21, 2007

We stayed here 9 nights in November, and had a wonderful time. It is not a luxury hotel, but rather like an apartment unit. We had a bedroom with Queen bed, sitting room with 2 single beds, a kitchen, and a great porch by the water where we sat each night. The owners live right on the property and are always available to help with any questions.. The hotel in in the Spanish Waters area, about 15 minutes by car from Willemstad, and a car is included with the room so you can explore the island. We visited 6 different beaches, including all the way to Grote Knip and had a great time.
