“Enjoyed royal service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Resort is lovely. Royal service staff very friendly, attentive and helpful. Room was great. Restaurants were good. Pool side bar service excellent. Unfortunately the whole family became sick after eating at main building beach bbq.

Stayed at Paradisus Varadero Dec 12-19 in the Royal Service section. We travelled as a couple age 28-31. Overall, we had a very relaxing holiday and the resort was very nice.

Royal Service- the service was great and worth booking. The rooms were large with a great bathroom area, walk in closet and living area. We had a fully stocked mini bar according to our preferences and had 2 butlers, Osmany and Fernando, who were readily available to book our dining reservations, spa bookings, etc. royal service also entitles you to 30% off on massages at the spa. There is also free internet, a private bar and restaurant and pool area for Royal service guests, which was very nice.

Restaurants/food- we mainly dinned at the Royal service restaurant for supper but also ate once at the Japanense and Mexican for supper. The food was very good at all. We ate at the buffet once for lunch- there is plenty to choose from but everything lacked flavour, so we just ate lunch at Royal Service. Compared to other resorts we've stayed at in Mexico, we felt the food was comparable except for the buffet.

Liquor- plenty of choice in Vodka and Rum. They do not have any Canadian Rye ( at any bar). They did have Baileys and Kaluha. They have lots of selection of other spirits. They do not have coke or Pepsi or Clamato juice. You can buy Coke downtown or at the mall. They have their own brand of pop, which is good.

Pools/beach- royal service has a pool (with floatie matts), and there is one large pool at the main resort and one activity pool at the main resort. There is a swim up bar at the main large pool. The better part of the beach is at the main resort but we enjoyed walking up/down the royal service beach to look for sea shells.

Activity/entertainment/amenities - there is a money exchange at the main resort. There is 1 gift shop as well as 4 outdoor huts selling souvenirs. There is a theatre with nightly shows, outdoor tennis & basketball courts and a fun pub (not exactly sure what this is as we didn't check it out). They have a full activities program that runs daily.

Overall, we had a great experience and would happily recommend this resort. Thanks Paradisus for a great 1st trip to Cuba!

Pure clean rooms! Fresh linens! Rolling surf on beautifully groomed white beaches! Fragrant air! Turquoise waters! Sunshine! Fresh Coconut water! Delicious food and lots of diversity of dishes! Loving staff! Happy happy times!
My husband and I travelled here for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We were delighted with everything we found. From our arrival to our departure we were looked after and treated extremely well. We were delighted to be brought to our hotel room when we arrived, by golf cart! Everything at the Paradisus Veradero Resort and Spa is like being in heaven. The food is delicious in the buffet. Mmmmm! Flavourful and delicious. There is a huge variety of everything....lots of fresh tasty vegetables and fruits of diverse types and amazing yummy desserts and whatever you could want for a main dish. In addition to all this, we fell in love with hot delicious Cuban coffee and Cappacinos. Service from people was always prompt and smiling in all areas of the resort.! Our room was spotless. The whole resort is. Everything smells fresh and the rooms are well thought out so as to be comfortable to stay in. Our bed was also very comfortable and spotless with lovely white cotton sheets and cover blanket. All was clean and beautiful. We loved our little swan towels that we would find on our bed when we came back from a day out. We also appreciated the flowers our maid left us. I liked to weave them into my hair for our dinners out when we dressed up. I saw a lot of other ladies doing the same. We reserved dining experiences at Cuban Fusion and Romantica and the Mexican restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. I highly recommend all of them. Each night was a lovely experience woven up with the pleasure of each culture or atmosphere created by the staff in each place. The food was divine in each one and we came away happy and satisfied with full tummies after all of them. Truly delightful ambience created in each! The beach was a dream come true! White cool sand as soft as brown sugar and cushioning the feet as you walked along to the refreshing water...lots of shade places from the gorgeous palms if you needed it...amazing sunsets, fun dance lessons if you want them....I learned meringue...a beautiful long stretch of beach property to stroll with a charming prestine white gazebo against the azure blue sky to visit and repeat your vows with your darling.....lots of conch shells and sand dollars and other shells to collect...it goes on and on the pleasures of Paradisus Veradero. The evening entertainment was stupendous! We watched a water ballet which was out of this world..the grace and skill of the dancers absolutely excellent! They also had a nice show earlier in the evening for children which allowed them to participate on stage.

We saw lots of people with cell phones and computers. We saw lots of other tourists with their cell phones....and hotel staff assured us there was no problem with bringing them. We will do this next time. Even though we didn't have our cells, communication was easy. There are phones in the hotel that you could easily call home to your family with.

We will definitely return to this hotel next winter. The staff are kind, friendly and helpful, yes and loving. The hotel and rooms are spotless and delightful. The food is delicious. The beach is divine. The gym was well outfitted with a friendly and informed trainer. The spa was gorgeous. The musicians were absolutely fantastic. The entertainment was engaging. And I even got to take daily Spanish lessons that made the trip even more fun as I would try out my new phrases around the resort each day.
Most everyone speaks English, if only a little and so I did not need to do this however it was very fun to see the genuine pleasure of the staff as I spoke a little Spanish from my lesson each day. I highly recommend this hotel. We are so eager to go back! Relax and feel reassured. You truly are coming to paradise, have a fantastic stay!

This was our first time to Varadero and we chose this resort based on a friend's recommendation and we were not disappointed. The resort itself is pristine and the grounds are beautiful. The main lobby itself is beautifully decorated and provides a relaxing ambiance to have a drink and listen to relaxing live entertainment. We had a room overlooking the ocean and the beach is one of the best in Varadero (corroborated by others we met who were staying at resorts beside us that came to use our beach.). The nightly entertainment was as good as any Vegas show! The talent was that great. Everyone of the staff members were delightful, pleasant and super friendly (as is the nature of the Cuban people), from the bartenders, the gentlemen that supply coconuts on the beach, the cleaning and the serving staff and the gardeners. I wish I could name everyone! We had a minor issue and the resort was right there to fix anything that wasn't right. There is a doctor on sight which is fabulous (as my husband twisted his foot). 8 restaurants on site. You can go snorkeling, out on the cat, and the water is spectacular. I would not even consider going to another resort. When we go back we will choose the Paradisus again. Brian and Carol D.

Room Tip: I would suggest getting a room that overlooks the ocean. Units around the 2700 or 2900. These unit...

We are greatly excited to be travelling to Paradisus Varadero Resort and Spa in early April 2014. Based on our past experience with Melia (we stayed at Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana a 3 years ago), we can't wait to compare and enjoy your hospitality!!! My daugther and I travel every year and this will be our first trip to Cuba. Our travel agent highly recommended the Paradisus (said it was the only place to stay in Cuba) for its beach, guest service and food. We are hopeful that our room will be close to the beach, weather hot, drinks cold and food tasty - goes without saying that the service will be excellent - I am sure! Counting the sleeps in cold snowy Ottawa Canada.

One of the nicest beaches on the Varadero hotel stretch, white coral sand that stayed cool even in the hottest sun. Great location for swimming and there's a reef to snorkel a short sail away. Hotel rooms were clean (we did move once because the hot water wasn't working) and the grounds were well kept. Overall a great place with friendly staff. My only complaint would be the beds, which were a little hard. Definite thumbs up though.

As almost all hotels there its all in, so that tourists not go out to meet locals. The holtel is located on a nice beach and has a lot of 2 story buildings with 6 rooms each, rooms are spacey . Equipment and bathroom have been new some 25 years ago. Upstair is better, especially with sea view. For food they have a large self service area but also 3 or 4 restaurants but please book immediately otherwise fully booked. Same with included watersorts, for scuba, they. Told me be at pool at 9:30 for check, but the scuba group left already at 9:00, so this is just annoying.
