I had an amazing time! I would definitely go back!!!!!!!

My sisters and my cousin and I all went (26, 22,19,and 19). We were disappointed at first but by the second day we loved it.

We expected more young people but come on, it's July, people are on their summer vacation, so there were many families. Many people i talked to from other resorts said the same thing. There were some young people though, so every night before clubbing about 30 of us would father at the pool bar to predrink.

The Disco sucks, so we had to leave the resort every night to go clubbing but the clubs are amazing anyways. We did not have nighly entertainment staff helping us but we asked cab drivers where to go, and are other friends we would meet at the clubs. I would recommend the cave, la rumba, international and mediterranea. International is so closer about a 10 minute walk and trust me it is completely safe to do so as long as you have a few people with you. All the other clubs were really closer too! The msot we paid for a cab ride before tip was about 5 pesos. Take money to get into the clubs though,

We met amazing people who I want to keep in touch with. The Cuban boys are So HOT! And they are allowed on the resort since recently so that was a plus! When we went clubbing we met people from all over Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and more! The front desk ladies were not so nice but that is also because of the language barrier. The bartenders and chefs were actually really nice though.

The beach was stunning...ive been to many places and this beach was by far the best. The pool was pretty good too.

The food sucked, but then again im Indian so I love spices and there food was not spicy ro salty at all. I would have died if they did not have tobasco sauce! I am also vegetarian so I was very disappointed. I pretty much had pasta, fries and pizzza every night..with sprite, and mangos of course. The alcoholic beverages are REALLY strong so if your not a big drinker ask for a little! We didnt mind though. My favourite were the tequilla shots. We got to know the bartenders at the lobby bar so they used to have our tequilal shots with the salt and limes ready for us!

Overall I had an amazing time. I made so many unforgettable memories. And I know I did say a few bad things about the resort but trust me, most resorts are MUCH worse! When we met people from different resorts they were jealous that we were staying at Villa Cuba. I wish I could go back. I cried my last day. if anyone decides to go, take me with you =(

“Amazing Vacation of a lifetime”

I have picked Excellent, not because the resort itself is perfect but because my trip was perfect. I have been lucky to do a lot of travelling and I can honestly say this was the best trip of my life. It was a package; it was the people I met, the wonderful beach and the wonderful staff. I feel so connected to Cuba now because of this trip, I fell in love! I fell in love with the island, the people, the beach and even the resort.

For those who love Frappuccino’s: I taught Soto and Evidio in the lobby bar how to make Frappuccino’s. We named it the K-vidio Especial, Evidio will remember if you go soon! Grab yourself a cappuccino with cinnamon take it Soto or Evidio and in case they forget it is 1 cub of cappuccino, sugar, ice, amaretto and triple sec. It is awesome!!! It’s like Starbucks with a kick, a great way to get your night started on the resort!

Here is a breakdown of my experience:

Beach: I have to start with the beach because it is incredible!! I walked up and down the beach and I can honestly say that Villa Cuba has the BEST beach on the strip. The staff as well does a wonderful job of ensuring the beach is clean, that the chairs are out and ready each morning. You can walk on the beach for hours if you want, it is just amazing!

Hotel: The hotel itself is not an upgrade, take my advice and book a villa or book a room in the 4100 block: 4101 – 4308 or in a Villa. I can’t lie, I must give full disclosure. My first room was in the hotel and when I first arrived I had a visitor waiting for me on my bed…a cockroach!! Remember folks, it’s the Caribbean, it’s going to happen. The good news is my other rooms (yes I said rooms) were cockroach free! Lucky for me because of my experience they moved me to an awesome room in the 4100 block with an amazing beach view. I woke up every morning and looked out at the beautiful ocean, it was awesome!! With all of this said the resort was very clean, they truly take pride in their island and their resort. The grounds were beautiful, the pool was maintained daily, and the rooms were clean.

Staff: Ok, the front desk staff is slow, and not really the brightest. You need to check and double check things with them, if you move rooms, you need to tell them multiple times before they get it…wow. That is the only negative I encountered with the staff. Otherwise the staff around the resort was amazing. The Cubans are such wonderful people, so warm, inviting, and eager to please. Evidio and Soto in the Lobby bar are great, and Alexis on the 9th floor all so inviting!

Food: Folks this is Cuba, if you go expecting to have fine dining you will be sorely disappointed. The food is not horrible, you won’t starve, the food is bland, and not a lot of variety, but it’s not that bad. I ate well, you get used to the food. The ice cream is great!! There has been a lot of talk on this site about how bad the ketchup is in Cuba. I am a Heinz fan through and through. I can honestly say the ketchup is not that bad! I have had other brands in Canada and Europe that are way worse. On a hotdog you will barely notice the difference.

Entertainers: On the resort during the day they have a team of people who are called Entertainers. Their job morning till night is to ensure people on the resort are engaged and having fun. They get you involved in a series of activities such as volleyball, soccer, bingo (yes bingo), darts, etc… They were all great but I have to give a special shout out to Nester. If you go and get a chance to talk to his boss please tell him on Tripadvisor someone wrote about how amazing he was. There is doing your job and there is going above and beyond and Nester always goes above and beyond. He really makes his rounds, he always has a huge smile on his face, he gets people engaged and he truly each and everyday does a wonderful job at ensuring guests are having fun. We became friends and I wish him nothing but wonderful things in his life. The entertainers will also take you to the clubs at night. I didn’t go myself, I always had fun at the resort but people who did go said they were fun. The disco on the resort is generally quiet, but you make your own fun. I always danced and drank and had a blast!

Nightly Entertainment: The nightly entertainment was excellent. These people work so incredibly hard. They have a circus show that gave me goose bumps. It was nothing short of amazing. The dedication that went into that show was unreal. They deserve better than the rickety props they have to work with. It’s all they can afford which breaks my heart since they deserve so much more!

Lastly the Cubans: I fell in love with them! I fell in love with their spirit. They have nothing yet they are so welcoming, warm and just incredible. I met two families where were on vacation. They welcomed me into their life like I was part of their family. They truly celebrate life and I learned a lot from them.

Overall my experience was amazing, truly a vacation of a lifetime. If you are hesitating going to Villa Cuba don’t! Yes it is an older resort, it is not perfect, but you know what, it’s those things that are not perfect that make it so beautiful. They take such pride in their resort, pride in their beautiful island and pride in themselves. I feel so connected to the people and the island, truly an amazing vacation, I will be back! Thank you to everyone who touched my life and helped make my vacation a trip of a lifetime.

I just got back from villa cuba yesterday afternoon and I had a wonderful 2 week vacation!!

The resort is an older resort and it shows but if you don't care that your rooms aren't very fashionable and that the paint on the outside of the building needs touch up, then this resort is fine for you.

The food was surprisingly ok, the second week was better - a bit more variety.

The beach is.......no words......

I stayed at the Bahia principe in La Romana last year and barely stepped in the ocean because of the merky water, seaweed and rocks and that resort is rated a 5 star.......to me everything has to be perfect to get a 5 star and the Bahia would have been perfect if the ocean was nice........villa cuba gets a 4 star because the resort is older and needs a facelift........

Hope this helps you all make your decision on which resort to travel to.

PS I travelled with my family - 2 adults and 3 kids.....no one got sick and everyone had fun......ages of the kids 5, 11, 13

Just got back from a 2 week stay at Villa Cuba. Here is the breakdown:

BEACH: The best we have ever seen! Beautiful white sand, nice clear water, good waves and always a refreshing breeze.
HOTEL: May take a few days to understand the confusing layout of this place. The hotel is very clean with lots of plants and trees decorating the premises. Staff very kind. Very helpful. Ex: my electric converter broke, so Asa, the handyman brought me a 20lbs soviet made relic that did the job nicely. Be sure to visit the bar on the ninth floor for some amazing sunsets. This is one of only 2 places there where you can get a real pina colada
ROOMS: Again, very nice, large and clean. Unfortunately unless you get a villa, it is difficult to get a room with an ocean view, even though the hotel was less than half empty (hotel is about 200 meters from the beach).
FOOD: The big one, what a relief! By far the best we've had in Cuba (4th visit). Many of the dishes were as good as you could find in any restaurant here. Chicken, roast pork, fish, calmari, pasta, pizza, vegetables, rice, all very tasty and reliable the entire time. The only disapointment was the asian restaurant.
ENTERTAINMENT: Overall pretty bad. The Afro Cuban night being the exception. The audience participation nights (about a third of the time) were especially brutal and often quite degrading to the female guest participants. The best part would have to be the septet who played in the outdoor lunch buffet. They were very good.
Anyhoo, this place seems to have many loyal guests, one dude we met has been 9 times! Another guy, 4 times. They even have a wall honoring preferred guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will surely go back again.

I went to Villa Cuba from May 5th until May 19th, so we stayed a whole 2 weeks. I went there with my sister who is 20 and my mom (I'm 21). We all had an amazing time :) I thought 2 weeks would be long enough, but believe me I could have stayed another week or more :)

Beach: It is wonderful!!! Sand so white, sea so clear and blue... Even Cubans from the city wich is about an hour by bus come to swim in the sea in front of our hotel, so you can imagine how beautiful it is!!! You can do kayak, pedalot and catamaran as much time as you want, you don't have to reserve for it, if it's free you can go and ask for it :)

Food: very good, I can't complain. Fresh orange juice made every morning, lots of fruits (especially mangos!), at noon we went to El Sitio, the cuban restaurant by the beach wich was very good, and the ice cream is marvelous!!! the waiters are very nice, they make sure you have everything you need. For supper we tried the Mariposa wich is excellent, and the Bamboo (Asian restaurant) is very good too, I took the shrimps wich were excellent. El Sitio at night is very good too, you eat cuban food. So overall I just loved the food, I'm a big eater and I lost 10 pounds :) because there is so much food, but it's not fast food, and with all the activities I was doing....

Entertainment: it was the best part. the entertainers are very good, they make sure you have fun. They get to know you, so they come and see you when an activity that you previously did and like is going to happen. In the morning the activities are mostly at the beach, and in the afternoon at the pool. The shows in the evening are different, sometimes it's a dance troupe, sometimes it's a participation show. I did twice the participation shows and I do not regret it at all, I had a wonderful time every time.

Rooms: I would say it's the part that I less liked. The rooms would need a big change, because they look old. We had 3 rooms, one for each of us, and I would say that the AC is the biggest problem. In my mom's room it was too strong, in my sister's room it wasn't working, and in my room it was working sometimes. But I was still sleeping at night. And I believe the room is not that important, as long as I have a good night sleep, because we are never in the room. and I slept well.

So I would say my vacations were very good and I definitely would like to go back there one day :)
