“Right on the beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Only stayed our first and last nights of our Cuba trip in Varadero (spent time in Havana, Vinales, and Trinidad too) but we wished we stayed a bit longer. Bertha and Alfredo are super friendly hosts and the meals were great!

Imagine waking up in the morning looking out on the beach! 50 meters is all you need to be on the breathtaking Varadero beach. I wouldn't head out to the beach without the healthy, large breakfast servered graciously by Bertha or Alfredo. The rooms are large however, there isn't a chest of drawers. Bertha is very gracious and willing to go the extra distance ensuring you have what you need and will even provide laundry service if requested. You will feel like part of the family while there.

We had a great stay in this casa. Bertha and Alfredo are very welcoming and Alfredo a great cook. The location of their casa is perfect, beach is a few seconds away and it is yours to enjoy!
Everything was perfect. We do not regret our choice of casa compared to all inclusive.
Enjoy.

My husband and I stayed at this casa for 7 nights. We picked them because of their proximity to the beach and for their good reviews on Trip advisor.
The moment we arrived we knew that we made the right decision. Bertha and Alfredo are the most hospitable hosts. They are very eager to please and very intuitive to your needs. Just an example, we were having conversation and we mentioned that we like our cappuccinos and yogurt. Well, the next morning low and behold we were served yogurt for breakfast and espresso and steamed milk. The yogurt was the best one I have ever had, it was naturally made (I don't know how) but it was very creamy and smooth.
The breakfast they served consists of eggs, bread, fresh papayas, pineapples and bananas. Also the best coffee and freshly made juice (mango, guavas and oranges)
We ate at their casa every night for dinner. The choices were lobster, shrimp, fish, pork, and chicken. Along with that, there's rice, salad, soup, yucca and potatoes. We tried everything, my husband ate whatever the family is having that night, I on the other hand ordered lobster three times and it was my favorite. Alfredo makes it so good, the tomato sauce that goes with it is excellent with rice. His yuca is to die for as well. Alfredo is an excellent cook. Bertha also makes killer Mojitos and Pinacoladas.
Bertha catered to all our needs, from phoning a cab to arranging for our accommodation in Havana. We spent a night in Havana so Bertha phoned another casa for us.
Both Alfredo and Bertha will bend over backwards to cater to all their guests. They all made us felt at home including their daughters Laurent and Claudia. What a lovely family.
We shared stories using our broken spanish and their broken english. We played domino, both of them are very competitive, we also had a lot of fun dancing. Alfredo is a very good dancer.
We not only had an awesome vacation, we also gained new friends. We cannot wait to return, planning it already.
We highly recommend this casa.

This location blew me away! Open the gate and you're on the beach, and turn the other direction and you're on the streets of Varadero. The thatched roof covering the outdoor table made you want to hang out there for hours. Add to that the friendly and welcoming personalities of Berta and Alfredo, and you've got the perfect alternative to the Varadero hotels. They're eager to help out with anything else you need to make your stay perfect.
I'd recommend this Casa to anyone.

Stayed with Bertha & Alfredo for 3 nights (7-10 dec 2012) Excellent casa, great location virtually on the beach. The food was amazing on par with 5 star hotels (Cuban style) Berta and Alfredo are very friendly/and only eager to help. Accomodation clean and spacious. Would not hesitate to recommend this casa.

Bertha & Alfredo are amazing people!

You could not help but fall in love with them and their family instantly.
The warmth of their hospitality is second to done.

Their home and surroundings are beautiful and we had a thoroughly enjoyable relaxing time there.
We ate incredible food there also. Alfredo is a really great cook. Everyone chips in to make meal times really special. All the food is homemade organic goodness, freshly prepared from start to finish.
You couldn't help but feel healthy after staying there a few days.

We stayed for three or four nights and even came back a couple times for dinner after we had left and checked into a five star all inclusive! So that will tell you how well we rate it.

We hope to return one day soon, God willing.

Yours truly
