We only discovered this place on our final night. The food was so good that we decided to eat there again the following lunchtime before catching our flight. On the second occasion it wasn’t the same chef and the food wasn’t quite as good, but it was still worth the return visit.
We had starters of tortilla, garlic soup and tuna salad, all of which we enjoyed. For the main course we had chicken chunks in a garlic sauce and chicken Andalucan style. They were really tasty, although the accompanying rice was a little small. For desert the cream was lovely, being similar to panna cotta.
On our evening visit it was very busy and there was a bit of a delay in the starters arriving. As a way of compensation we were served with a complimentary garlic bread before the main starters arrived. There were something like 26 covers in the restaurant, but one chef and assistant.
Of all our restaurant meals in Cuba this was the best. The 3 course meal with a drink cost around £7.50 each, less than half the price I would expect to pay for a similar quality meal in the UK.
The service was really quick on the second visit, after we mentioned we were getting a flight after the meal. We were, very unusually for Cuba, even given a customer satisfaction survey to complete.
One word of warning if you're a none smoker. People are free to smoke in the restaurant and it got really smokey inside, especially after someone lit up a cigar.
If you’re looking for a place to eat, I would definitely recommend trying the food here.
