We travelled to cuba with friends and had originally booked to go to the oasis 1920 but that hotel was terrible and after meeting with our first choice rep we were offered to go and look round the brisas, we were met by gisel the public relations manager, she gave us a guided tour of the hotel and the grounds, after looking round we decided to move to this hotel. The service we received at this hotel was great, all the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The food in the buffet restaurant was good and enough choice for everyone they cooked fresh pasta which was really tasty, in the mornings the did fresh omlettes, eggs and pancakes. they also had fresh fruit smoothies which were really refreshing.
I would recommend the a la carte for the italian night and the carribean night but did not really like the fish one as at that time of night the mosquittos were everywhere and we got bitten quite a lot.
Now the mosquittos the best repellent to take is the BOOTS own brand as it really works where the other types are not as good.
The beach is excellent and it has security staffing it all the time the water is crystal clear.
You must try the pina colladas in the pianno bar the are to die for.
The lobby bar: the staff are really friendly especially MILADYS, JOSE, PELE AND OREO. They really look after you.
The only downside to this hotel is that there is no where to walk after dinner we like to walk, so we used to walk down the road to the dolphinarium and watch the dolphins swim about at night but it would have been good to have a walk round some shops too.
The open top bus is good value for money and they stop at al pachinos house for 10 mins so you can get off and have a look round.I would reccomend the little yellow taxis they were great.

“Do not be put of by the reviews of this hotel! We nearly cancelled our holiday as we were so upset after reading some of the things people had written about it. The hotel is definitely not nearly as bad as some of the reviews, in fact we had a great holiday and found the hotel to be more than adequate.

What you need to remember when you get there is that “It is Cuba”! Hotels and restaurants are not to the standard as what you’d expect at home due to the nature of how the country is run. And you get what you pay for. Don’t pay the price of a 3-star hotel and expect a 5-star holiday; saying that we were more than happy with the hotel.

The rooms were clean though probably a bit dated. The maids like to leave you some towel art each day, it’s fun guessing what today’s art work is going (or suppose) to be!!

The food wasn’t the best but I’m sure this is not just restricted to the Brisas Del Caribe hotel. We definitely did not go hungry when staying there however. There is always something you can find to eat as they have a huge selection of food. Also the snack bars do a great burger during the day! We did sample the specialist restaurants which were interesting. We did have a prawn pasta one night with only one prawn in it! Still surprisingly tasty though! We found this more funny that annoying. Im sure most Cubans don’t get to eat prawns (or prawn!).

The cocktails are amazing! There is definitely no scrimping on the rum!!

All staff were very friendly and helpful. You are expected to tip as they get paid very little, think this was the biggest cost of our holiday!

The beach is gorgeous and definitely worth the money alone. One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. There are also some water sports, we went out on a small catamaran, this was good fun and free as part of the hotel services.

The hotel is definitely value for money. Don’t go expecting a lot and you will be pleasantly surprised.”

I went to Cuba from 24th June to 2nd July 2009...actually returned to the UK this morning. Our trip was split between Havana (3nights) and Vradero(4nights). The Havana Hotel (Comodoro Bunagalows) was ok but I would certainly not recommend Oasis Del Caribe. Firstly, upon arrival, we commented on the fact that a painter was running a not so fresh coat of paint on the front entrance but used the rags to block the entrances. Not a good feeling. I did go to Cuba fully aware that it is a so called third world communist country. However, there are standards which any hotel in the tourism business should adhere to. We were given a room with a strong mouldy/musty smell which did not go away through out our stay. The aircondition was not working and after several conversation with the receptionist, the maintenance chap came upstairs and fixed the aircondition. I must point out that the smell did not go away even with the aircon working. If you booked this hotel I recommend that you check in with an air freshner spray. The other most worrisome thing is the mosiquitos...they are everywhere in the hotel especially at the beach and the reception. I can understand mosquitos at the beach but not very prominent at the reception because it can be controlled indoors. Well, my reckoning is that the stagnant body of water at the reception does not help as it is a perfect breeding area for the mosquitos. And I must warn,the mosquito repellant did not do a lot.My wife was bitten thrice in the forehead by this blood suckers despite applying mosquito repellant.
Anyway, for pros- the beach is really great.However, the mosquito is still a great issue unless of course you are always in the sea and do not lounge in the beach chair sometimes.The catmaran and pedalos are great fun too.

The only positive i found was that it is so close to such a beautiful beach. We stayed there for 2 hours and I couldn't take much more and changed hotel. if you are used to good quality 4 star hotels you will be sooooooo dissapointed.
