If you want a more real Cuban experience than a tourist hotel then stay here. We stayed here for three nights and Senor Julio and Senora Aurora could not have been more lovely. They were warm and attentive hosts and welcomed us into their home. Their home is a 1st floor apartment in old Havana 6 blocks south of the Plaza Vieja. If you are not a seasoned traveller the street may seem a little dodgy but rest assured ALL of old and central Havana looks like this (ie falling down!) and if you take the normal precautions its fine, we felt perfectly safe. The apartment was quite spacious and our room whilst very simply furnished was spotless as was the fully tiled bathroom. It also benefitted from airconditioning which many casa particulares do not have. Julio spoke some English and Aurora pretty much none but with our phrasebook and lots of sign language we had fun communicating. They were very attentive and interested in helping us make the most of our stay and seemed genuinely interested in what we had got up to each day. Breakfast was the biggest bowl of fruit you have ever seen and an egg and bread rolls. You did not go hungry. At 38 CUC per night for two its unbeatable value but don't stay here for the value but a cuban experience a hotel cannot offer you.
