I have just returned to Toronto after three weeks in Havana. As my base for exploring the city, I chose the Casa de Ana. I chose well!

Ana and Pepe were very gracious hosts. The Casa de Ana is clean, comfortable, and safe. Havana is very hot in August and so I appreciated the air conditioning! I enjoyed a hearty breakfast each day of orange juice, fresh fruit, eggs, cafe con leche, and lots of pan de flauta. At extra cost, I opted to take my evening meal at the Casa de Ana. It, too, was hearty and deliciously prepared.

The next time I go to Havana I will stay again at the Casa de Ana!

We had 3 nights here in July to begin our journey through Cuba, then came back for our final night in Cuba as well. Both bedrooms were big, clean, air conditioned and had their own bathrooms. It was fun to be part of the household - watching the Pan-American Games on TV with their friends, being entertained by the 5 year old granddaughter etc. Breakfast was served at whatever time we wanted it.
Pepe was so good to us. We loved his tour of Old Havana. When we sat with him to plan the rest of our time in Cuba he gave good advice and booked Casas for us in other cities. All of his choices of Casas were excellent. He also asked the Casa owner in Camaguey to book our bus seats back to Havana. It all worked out very well,
Coming back to Casa de Ana at the end of our trip felt like coming home. We were that comfortable there!
Pepe was particularly good with our teenage daughter who has been learning Spanish. Instead of speaking English with us, he often spoke Spanish to our daughter and asked her to translate to us, However, his English is great.
Sadly, we didn't meet Ana because she was away on a well-earned holiday -we'll have to visit again to meet her!

After a long flight we were picked up by a relative of Pepe. He held up a sign for us at the airport and we then took a cab to town. It cost us 25 CUC to get to the Casa (you can get it cheaper than that but its much better to have a nice friendly person you can trust pick you up)!

The casa is in a quiet part of vedado. It takes 15 minutes to most sites in town by cab. Costs about 3-5 CUC. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING ANY OTHER FORM OF TRANSPORT. We only used Panataxi cabs as they were the best value.

Pepe arranged for us to get salsa classes at the Sprachschule Salsa class (probably the best in town - it has German management but all the teachers are Cuban and really good). He even arranged for a cab to take us there.

Pepe also advised us to go and eat in the nearby multi-floor restaurant called Paris. Insist on going to the roof top terrace to eat. The BBQ is great and they often have musicians walking from table to table.

Strongly recommend staying here for your first night or few.

Location:
La Casa de Ana Y Pepe is ideally located in the Vedado district, which is one of the best neighbourhoods in Habana. This is an ideal location to relax after a long day of sight-seeing or a night out salsa dancing. Ana and Pepe's Casa is a short distance to the Malecon, a 5 minute taxi ride to Central Habana and a 10 minute ride to Old Habana.

Service:
I can not say enough about the service that I received at La Casa de Ana Y Pepe. Both Ana and Pepe went out of their way at all times to make sure that I was safe, comfortable and having fun. Not only did Pepe pick me up from the airport but when I left to go to Varadero he took me to the bus stop and made sure I got on the bus. How sweet! Similarly, upon my re-arrival to Habana from Varadero, Ana's newphew, Anthony, picked me up from the bus station and droped me off at the Habana airport.

Every morning I would wake up to a huge breakfast. Ana would go to the market every morning to make sure that I had a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables for breakfast. At my request, Ana and Pepe would also prepare dinner for me.

The cleanliness of this Casa is like no other. Better than any hotel I have ever been to. Every time I returned from a lond day of sight-seeing I would come to see my room spotless. Beyond expectation.

Habana:
What can I say about this city except WOW! I love Habana. It has become like my second home. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen. Rich with culture and a must see!!! This trip was my fifth to Cuba. I will be returning in May for a month and staying with Ana and Pepe again, as they feel like family to me.

Ana y Pepe:
If you are reading this review I would like to say thank you so much for taking such excellent care of me during my stay in Habana. Muchas gracias por todo. No peudo esperar verlos otra vez. Por favor, dice hola a tus familia. Mucho besos y abrazos.

My brother and I went to Cuba to make a trip there. Our first place to stay was La Casa de Ana. It's not far from Havana centre and it has very clean and spacious rooms. Very nice breakfast too.
It was really nice to see how friendly and helpfull Ana and Pepe were. They helped us organise our trip through Cuba, with lots of helpful tips. I can really recommend this place!
