Spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Cuba at the start of June and although only 2 nights were actually spent at Ana's casa it still made the biggest impact.
We stayed at La Casa de Ana for the first two nights on our arrival in Havana. My bag didnt arrive at the airport and so we were late getting to the casa (my advice is to pack a small carry on as there seem to be a lot of disappearing bags!!) Despite the time Pepe still made us dinner and it was delicious :-) The next day he even came back to the airport with me to collect my bag.
The Casa itself is beautiful. Spacious, cool and spotlessly clean. The rooms are big, bathrooms lovely and the air con, safe and stocked fridge are great additions. The food is great for both breakfast and dinner. And the front garden area is a lovely little sanctuary to hide from the hottest of the sun and do some reading.
We decided to stay in Havana for a third night and as Ana was booked up (natural with her popularity!) we stayed around the corner at Suzanna's, another lovely place. When we came back to Havana before flying home we stayed with another friend (Marilou) in the same neighbourhood - but we still came back to Ana's for Yuri's delicious breakfast!

Ana helped with all our planning, before hand by email and also when we were there. She called ahead to Vinales and Trinidad and booked us into two more fantastic casas. Albertico in Trinidad was great and I could not recommend enough Villa Basita in Vinales (leave room for her cooking - its out of this world!).

Although the location is more than walking distance from central Havana, apart from the taxi costs, it didn't bother us, in fact, the drive or partial walk along the Malecon was really enjoyable. It is not the cheapest casa in Havana and yes meals and drinks etc are extra of course. But in this case you get what you pay for and the help that we got at Ana's was invaluable.

We had corresponded with Ana for months prior to our arrival in Havana, and Ana was a wonderful source of information! When we arrived, Ana and Pepé served us a wonderful Cuban coffee. It was like coming home!
Although Ana and Pepé had no room at their place, Ana has so many contacts in the neighbourhood that she can find you something. You can stay in a casual and warm environment, like Ana and Pepé's, or you might find yourself (as we did), in museum-like homes: marble floors, bathrooms, and mahogany furniture! Ana also helped us find accommodation in Trinidad with her friend Alberto. Ana is a real treasure!

I love the system of casas particulares in Cuba. Sharing the life with families and staying in one of the two rooms they have to offer. I arrived early evening in Habana and was very well looked after by Ana and Pepe. They have created a home away from home in Cuba. For me Ana and Pepe represent the generousity and hospitality I grew accustomed with in Cuba. Kind, generous, open, warm, communicative, that is what I would say the people of Cuba are.

Get your trip started in Cuba at la Casa de Ana. They will find an answer to all your questions.

I would recommend this casa to anyone travelling to Havana. From the warm welcome at the airport ( Pepe had to wait 2 hours) we knew we were in good hands. My friend and I were quickly adopted by Ana & Pepe. Their casa in is a quiet & safe area, a short taxi ride from the centre, in my opinion it is better to stay out of the city centre.

The casa is clean, comfortable, secure with AC and fridges in the rooms, internet ( a bonus in Cuba) and TV in the main room and a nice patio. It is located in a friendly neighbourhood where you can safely wander about. Breakfast will set you up for the day, fresh fruit, eggs whatever way you want them etc. You can request a tasty dinner, Ana is very accommodating with awarkard eaters ( veggie food can be difficult in Cuba) and makes great mashed potatoes ! They both speak v good English, a great help to those with barely a word of Spanish. From the start we were told it was our house and were encouraged to relax and chat about our day to our hosts and other guests or just chill in front of the TV. We actually slept at a close neighbours casa as Ana's was full but ate, etc at Ana's- this just meant we meet more Cuban people and were further cosseted by the always smiling Susanna.

We had nothing organised before arrival but Pepe helped us organise flights, buses, tours, taxis and shows. Nothing was too much trouble and he even accompanied us to booking offices ensure that everything was ok. We had intended to take a tour of Havana but hate large organised tours where you struggle to hear the guide and keep up with the group so Pepe's personalised tour was fantastic for us and his indepth knowledge a bonus. I would advise doing this the morning you arrive as it orientates you with the city.

We travelled outside Havana and Pepe organised casa's at each location and had the owners come and meet us, this means that you don't have to deal with touts or taking out your map and trying to figure out where to go in a new town. Our 2nd favourite casa owner Keca even meet us at 6.45 am !!!!

Whilst we were there previous guests called in for a visit and a drink - always a good sign ! I would happily recommend this casa to my friends and family and hope to return in the future.
