Ana and Pepe are wonderful people. They have a great little home in Vedado, which is definitely the place to stay when in Habana. They are very helpful in helping you to organize your Cuba adventures and getting you set with expected prices etc. It cost 35$ a night, which is a little pricey for travelling, but for the quality of the people and place, it is worth it. Many of the places in Vedado will be close to this price.

Oooh and organize to have at least one of your meals at the Casa. Great price and so much better than eating out!

  • Disliked — a little over my daily budget. Only 35$ though.

The only way to experience Cuba is to stay in family homes & the best thing of all is when you find the perfect casa....

We definitely struck gold when we found La Casa de Ana. A lovely house set amidst the beautiful architecture that makes Cuba so special, and five minutes from the ocean.

Ana & Pepe treated us like part of the family... they really are the most welcoming, caring and wonderful hosts! They helped organise our itinerary, booked us other fantastic casas to stay around Cuba, and even helped us pick up the pieces when we ran of money! I will never forget dancing salsa around the living room with Ana & Pepe ... .

So if you want the authentic Cuban experience, a taste of the best mojotos in town and unbeatable hosts, stay at la Casa de Ana. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ana & Pepe - Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

First thanks so much for you warm welcome and you example of strength and generosity dearest Ana and Pepe . When I was beginning to plan my vacation in Cuba I had many questions and thanks to Ana I was able to make the best of my time and my money over there.
I learn the best way to know the country, Pepe have extensive knowledge of history and geography of Cuba , Ana give me very good addresses from other Casas Particulares out of Havana and warned me about dangerous and illegals things that as tourist I shall be aware of -like never go to illegally renting houses , purchase illegal atoms like cigars or not be too trusted with "over-friendly" people - , Ana, and Pepe were extremely patient and generous with their time, always in a good mood to give the best free advice that they could.
For me this trip was very fulfilling experience, coming from a Western society I went to Cuba looking for a new social experience ( and of course to enjoy the splendid Caribbean weather).
Cuba Its a great country in which people have a lot basic necessities to cover and not many means to obtain them, so this fact have shape the cubans way of living , I found a pity how materials need made some persons to behave in a regretful way but it was very positive to experience how much families and friend help each-other . In this sense Ana and Pepe are top class, among them I felt save and had a great time , at the end of my stay in their house (home) I admired both for their commitment to their work and the responsibility towards their guests. I'm amaze about how much do they work , day and night !, la casa de Ana, it have not luxury or extras, but they do have a secret more valuable than money: its a house of love and friendship always ready to offer a helping hand to any one that knock on their door.
I love you people and you both will be in my heart forever !.

We had a lovely stay at La Casa de Ana - Ana is funny, lively and really nice. Pepe is also nice, if a little more reserved. The casa is big, with lovely rooms and a 24-hour guard at night, which makes you feel safe. It is also in a good neighbourhood, although you will need to take a taxi into town. I would recommend this Casa, but bear in mind there are many other beautiful ones in Havana, in old colonial homes etc which gives you more of a feel for the real Cuba. Ana and Pepe are also obviously wealthy compared to many, many other Cubans and so I can't help thinking it would be good to share some of your tourist cash with other casa owners?

  • Liked — Ana's hospitality
  • Disliked — The fact there are other casas that get very overlooked!

Ana and Pepe were the most gracious of hosts; always upbeat
and welcoming, they made our trip to Cuba from Dec 31 to Jan 10 a breeze. I contacted Ana by email back in October of last year ('07) about her "casa particular" in Havana. I do speak and write in Spanish but she speaks English as well, plus some other languages too, I think. I had already read a positive
review on Tripadvisor. She responded right away and
sent me pictures of her home where she rents rooms to tourists.
We corresponded about Cuban films and she made suggestions, and by the time we arrived, we were friends!
Ana has several homes nearby in Vedado that she screens
and sets up as a liaison for others who are doing what she
is doing. The home we stayed in "Casa de Diana" was actually run by Tony because Diana had been ill. Tony did a great job as host as well. We had breakfast every day with scrambled eggs and the price for us (one couple) was 43 CUCs per day
(That is lodging plus breakfast for 2.) Friends of ours travelled with us and stayed at Casa de Diana too. Their experience was also extremely positive. But my hat is off to Ana who did much more than arrange housing for us. She answered all our questions about transportation before we even got there, looked for a taxi for us to Vinales, and was helpful about the money exchange issue. She even found is a great "parador" for dinner!
(The Decameron). I was a little concerned because her home (and homes of her network) are not so centrally located in Havana (not close to central Havana or Havana vieja) but taxis are easy to come by, and it was actually kind of nice to have a place to go in a residential neighborhood that was more peaceful. Ana and Pepe always seem to have guests at their home from a variety of different countries, and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves with Cuban coffee and cookies!
My husband and I highly recommend Casa de Ana, and will stay there again when we return to Cuba! !

  • Liked — not touristy, get to know the family and neighborhood, nice patio to sit out on, friendly people
