We stayed in this casa for five nights and really recommend it! Ramon (the host) was very helpful and friendly and it was great to be able to sit down and talk with a Cuban first hand!

This casa is situated in Vedado which is a nice suburban neighbourhood and there are plenty of cost effective restaurants nearby. It is also a very easy walk to the Malecon for the evenings or a longer walk to Old Havana.

The room and bed is very comfortable and the bathroom very nice with a great shower. A shared fridge is also provided so you can keep a good supply of drinks cold in the hot Cuban weather!

They have a pet dog, Mina who is very friendly....

Unfortunately they have a few problems with their lift (but this is typical of Cuba!) but luckily we only had to use the stairs once in the six days we were there, but be prepared...the lift is antiquated so can be very slow....just like everything else in Cuba.

We had trouble booking a rental car to take us to Varadero so Ramon very kindly booked us on the bus and when we left also walked with us to find a taxi to the bus station so that he could give them directions in Spanish. He also kindly arranged us a "taxi" for our 5.30am trip to the airport and got out of bed to see us off.

We really recommend staying with Ramon and his family....they are very generous and interesting people!
