My boyfriend and I stayed 4 days here and thought it was great.

Its a nice little hotel. The rooms are large and in very good condition. We had an enormous shower and the bathroom was a good size.

The rooftop pool is great and gives great views of the city. We walked everywhere from this hotel.

Breakfast wasn't great, but we expected that after having read all the reviews on this website. I would recommend that you order off the menu rather than eat from the buffet. The buffet food is rather cold and there were lots of flies.

My only other reservation was about the concierge Raul - I know he has had wonderful reviews but we found him to be a little bit arrogant and pushy. He was quite rude to us when we mentioned that we were meeting a guide who was a colleague of Jorge (he is mentioned lots on this website). The guide was brilliant and was very informative. Also, Raul was pushy when recommending the paladares - we used our Lonely Planet guide and found some great restaurants rather than use the hotel recommendations - be aware that the hotels get commission for recommending the paladares, or so i was told by our independent guide.

Aside from that which was minor, we had a great time. Havana is a wonderful city.

The best hotel we stayed in Cuba.

We stayed in a Jnr Suite which was large modern, had cable TV, clean with a huge bathroom (tub and separate raindrop shower).

We wish we stayed here further – the concierge were excellent, as were the staff. The pool on the roof was fantastic. Mojitos were quite good in the bar, as was the bar food (at the bar in the mezzanine).

Breakfast was great – good selection, however the food at the restaurant (dinner was included) was not good at all – not too our taste – “stodgy” would be a good description. On the last night we asked if we could have the meal moved to the bar – i.e bar food, which was granted and we said we should have done this earlier.

Great hotel, close to the Capital Building and everything else – will be back. Much Much better than Hotel National which we stayed at afterwards!.

I rarely stay in 5 star hotels, being more of a 3 star person financially, but my sister and i booked into one of the suites here as a treat while we were in havana and boy, was it worth it. our room was on 2 floors and is bigger than my home, we got complimentary canapes, brought with aplomb by cute waiters, the pool on the roof is just wonderful with amazing views of the city and we lived like jlo for a couple of nights. the breakfast was the best ive ever had in havana, and the food in the restaurant was pretty good..you could even swallow the meat without chewing for 10 mins..if you have spent any time in cuba you will know how unusual that is! it is a wonderful hotel..like all 5 stars it is a bit faceless and could be in any country in the world, it aint cuba..but its luxurious, very hiply decorated and makes you feel a million dollars. if you would like to see our suite..i suggest you watch my video..we had such fun making it.

After reading all the positive reviews about the Saratoga we decided to book it for our four nights in Havana. The location is great, right opposite the capitolio - with a fantastic view of it from the rooftop pool area. The hotel is nice and pleasantly furnished, but this building has had its soul ripped out. Looking at some old photographs displayed, we noticed that they added a few floors on top, which means they only left the beautiful outside walls standing and everything inside is new. If you like a modern, generic world hotel like anywhere else in the world, that is fine, but if you want to breathe in some of the Cuban style, than rather stay somewhere else.
The rooms are nice and clean, the pool area on the rooftop is a great place, opening officially only at 9am, but none of the staff intervened when I went for a swim before breakfast.
The breakfast buffet is okay, but the number of tables is inadequate, if the hotel is fully booked. We stayed over the Easter weekend, when it was fully booked and had to wait some mornings up to 15 min to get a table! While there was a big unused bar area next to the breakfast room, this is just bad planning...

  • Liked — The roof-top pool
  • Disliked — Having to wait for a breakfast table every day!

One of the most luxurious hotels in Havana, you'll love the central location, the well-appointed rooms and bathrooms, the rooftop pool and the views. The concierge, Raul, was very helpful, but make sure you let him know what you want to do rather than follow his advice blindly, since he works on commission.

The main drawback was the price. You can find other places nearby that might not be quite as nice, but give you much better value for money.

  • Liked — The bathroom, English speaking staff
