Well i honestly don't understand why everyone is being so harsh on the hotel.....it's not the best...but it's damn good for it's price! I stayed there for 11 days and i have to say i had a great time!!! The location of the hotel is fantastic, right next to the malecon, a 2 minute walk to the nacional (to have drinks on the sea front), a short walk from the university and the market.....surrounded by clubs! If you're looking for a quiet unadventurous holiday, then don't go to Havana full stop!!
The staff i found were quite nice, talkative and warm (like most cubans), we had one or two mishaps but other than that our stay was great!!!
The pool is actually quite cold....which is a good thing when there is extreme heat!!!! I thought the bar was fantastic.....the guy working there was lovely, and they have football on!!! I watched the champions league matches while i was there and made many international footy fan friends too!!
The atmosphere of the hotel in general is great!! The lobby is always buzzing, and you get this great guy playing the guitar in the evening, who is just lovely!!!
The rooms aren't too bad!!! We got a balcony so it was aright, but try to get a room in the main part of the hotel.....you must expect rusty things everywhere in Cuba courtesy of the embargo! And the maids make little swans out of towels and put them on your bed every day!!!!
All in all i thought it was a nice place, the atmosphere is the best thing about it, along with the location!!!!
