When we arrived at Hotel Vedado it all looked very grand from the front. Inside the main foyer it was nice, however, the space was limited. We got the keys to our rooms and got the lift upstairs. However, we soon found that our rooms were not in the main hotel but in an outside building with a small lift that could only fit 5 or so people.

As we got upstairs, we got into our rooms. They were clean but simple, however the television in my room didnt work. The shower and toilet worked fine in comparison to other rooms who either didnt have hot water or theire toilet wouldnt flush.

At one point in the first couple of days the lights in our hall went out, so we had to use the small lamps provided. Also, the air conditioning did work however, it was very noisy and you couldnt sleep with it on.

A couple of days in and the lift broke. We had to walk the to the 6th floor everyday up and down. Even on our departure we had to carry our suitcases down the stairs!

The food on the whole was alrite. I requested fried eggs while most people had omlettes. The bread tasted funny and we were warned not to drink the water there.

The hotel bragged about its internet access however, everytime i asked about it, they said they had run out of cards.

The dinner there was rather limited. Rice with pork, rice with beef, rice with fish. That was it. The starter pasta was amazing, probably the best meal i had out there.

There is a restaurant outside the back of the hotel. The food there was nice and it was open around the clock so you could order a burger at 2am and they didnt mind.

On the whole the hotel was ok, considering the minor fall backs. The pool was fun, except after a while they banned us from using rugby balls in the pool. They really liked to ruin the fun for us tourists!

We booked this hotel through a Cuban agent, hoping for a budget place to stay for our last few days of holiday. The room wasn't especially clean or pleasant to be in, but we were prepared for that.

The main problem was the staff. They were incredibly rude when dealing with us, especially when we asked them a question one day. They mis-understood what we asked and didn't listen when we tried to explain. Then they complained about us to the other staff behind the desk, thinking we didn't understand Spanish. When I complained to the manager nothing happened.

I'd really suggest avoiding this dump.

This was without doubt the worst hotel I have ever had the bad luck to stay in.
Truly appalling surroundings.
Rooms are horrible. Damp beds, noisy inefficient a/c, wardrobe doors that don't shut, leaking taps, rusty grotty bath.
Totally disinterested staff.
Swimming pool with water that doesn't look clean, complete with greasy film.
Uninspiring breakfast including coffee which didn't appear to have ever seen a coffee bean and mis-matched cutlery - if you were lucky enough to find any.
This is certainly not a 3* hotel, even 2* would be over-generous.

For a hotel in Havana with outdoor pool CUC 50 for a double seems a good price - but for not a lot more you can do better.

The hotel is in a great location a short stroll from bars, restaurants, the Nacional Hotel and its bars and the famed Malecon. It does have a pool, but as it is surrounded directly by high-rise areas of the hotel it will only get sun on it during mid-day, exactly when you shouldn't be in it!

The service is ok, breakfasts are ok, the bar is nothing special, the rooms are a decent size but some are a bit musty and dark.

I would not be in a hurry to book again

Not impressed with this hotel at all. Especially as we were moved here from the splendid Hostal Valencia.

  • Disliked — Tiny dirt pool with about 5 mins of direct sunlight a day
  • Tips/Secrets: — Stay at the Hostal Valencia instead
