I was as first uncertain of this option as i dont speak spanish and i like my privacy, however neither of these issue were a problem, I stayed with Alex andhisfamily in Habana Central. Not only was the accomodation very clean and comfortable , with private bathroom, we given all the information and support we needed to customise our trip, taxis and other accomodation were provided throughout Cuba, which enabled us to travel where and when we liked. The accomodation at Alex's Casa was central, clean and spacious and we had plenty of privacy as the family lived at the other side of the house, yet we were able to join them at any point, watching the local tv soaps was hysterical, commuicating about their everyday lives, and the opinions they have on the changing world of Cuba was something you will not experience at the "all inclusive" Alexs knowledge and network of people allowed us to travel to every point in Cuba that we wished to see, and his intentions are sincere, in that he wants you to enjoy Cuba! His local knowledge provides you with a well informed and safe experience. He and his family are well educated making a pleasant and informative encounter. For me his attitude and genuine help from the rest of the family was invaluable in making sure that my 1st trip to Cuba will not be my last! THANK YOU ALEX!

When we get there it was by fate and then the family's man:Juanito,the best mojito in Cuba,gave us welcome together with his wife Cristina.
Nice old couple live with thir daugthers in a big place 5 min.walking from Vinales centre.Dinner was exeptionally exellent in Vinales.The best place to stay with kids and honeymoon in Cuba.

Jaguey Grande is in Matanzas Province along the main highway that runs the length of Cuba. The main industry appears to be Juice. There are many many citrus plantations near and around Jaguey plus a packaging plant in Jaguey which can be seen from the highway (divided - four lane).

There are two casa particulars about three houses apart in this part of Jaguey.

She has two separate rooms. One with a separate bathroom and the second shared with Cari.

She is an excellent cook. Cost is $20 CUC per night.
Meals range from $3 to $12 CUC depending on what it is. She can arrange for someone to watch a vehicle for you at an extra expense.

Bertha's house is nicer but usually booked. She has emergency backup power. A good cook with two rooms with separate bathroom. There is an attached garage for a rental car if it is not booked. Cost is $25 or $30 CUC per night for a room and the same costs for meals.

This is a very safe town not to busy and very local. Bars and other ammenities are a short walk (approx four or five blocks). I've been many many times, even participated in a street festival one time, loads of fun and people.
