“Great walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We stayed near the Malecon, so saw it in many different lights. There was a storm, which was spectacular, children playing in the pounding surf on the walkway. It is great to see the fishermen, and when the sea is calm, swimmers in the small pools cut out of the coral. A great long walk, with great scenery.

“Nice walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We walked this from the Hotel National to Havana Vieja. It is a pleasant walk, although there are a lot of building works going on. The road is busy and there's quite a lot of pollution.

“Great spot on a long weekend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

If you happen to be n Havana during a long weekend, make sure to hit the Malecon in the evening. The place is packed with a young crowd playing music, dancing and hanging out.
The Bim Bom ice cream parlor next to the Hotel Nacional turns into a bar/outdoor disco. Great place to grab a beer and take in some Cuban diversity.

“Walk it from Old Havana till the Nacional Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Watch out for the waves, that easily reach 4 meters, onto the sidewalk... Walk it in the daytime, as the views are spectacular, you will soon see a huge ivory colored building on your left, as you walk from old Havana - then you are at the Nacional Hotel, go in for a drink on their terrasse. Splendid plan!

“What's the fuss all about?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We went to the Malecon at about 16:30 hours on a Friday afternoon.

We took some pictures at the east end of the street and then began to walk westwards.

This place is way overhyped for what we saw. The sidewalk is directly beside a wide 6 lane highway and nothing is really going on. The views are okay, but nothing really worth writing home about.

All the buildings directly across from the sea look rundown and in very poor condition.

We probably went at the wrong time, which made me try to imagine the place at night. Maybe it'd be slightly better.
