“Great for a long walk or a run”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

At the start of our trip, we stayed in Vedado and walked along the Malecon to the Old Town. Its a hive of activity, especially at night time when all the locals come to hang out. Be careful when the seas are rough as the waves come crashing over the walls.

“It`s a long walk!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Such an interesting place really good for just watching the world go by.Lots of fishing from the sea wall and hustle&bustle everywhere. The old cars drive up and down many of them stunning others look as though they are going to fall apart but they keep on going. The view across to the fort is lovely and the statue of Christ just a little distance away from the fort is beautiful. In the evening the Melecon is the place where youngsters meet. We`re in our sixties and we walk the lenght of it mainly because taxi`s aren`t supposed to stop to pick people up on El Malecon!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Must visit but be careful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Great views of the fort and fishermen and the huge waves but be warned that there are parts that are very slippery due to moss/weed which can be very difficult to see. Be very careful crossing the roads to the Malecon.

“nice but no cigar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

It is a nice place to take a stroll and if there is a lightening strike at sea at night a fab point to watch.
Other than that, yes locals do sit here and stroll but nothing that exciting in my humble opinion
