This is a restaurant with rooms available upstairs. Definitely not a hotel. Surly, unhelpful staff (lots of them but no one seems to do anything). They seemed put out that there were rooms there, that they
had to check us in and serve us breakfast. The rooms are large and clean and the location was very central. Overall, ok but I would not recommend it as a place to stay. You'd be better off in a proper hotel.

A gorgeous small hotel with only 5 rooms above a Flamingo Bar. The location is brilliant in the middle of Old Havana and the staff are friendly. Great food with an excellent atmosphere with live Flamingo dancers most nights. Would definately recommend.

We spent 3 nights in Havana this November. We chose this hotel because it's in the center - all the main attractions are in walking distance. (Capitol 10 mins., Cathedral 5 mins., etc) This hotel has only 5 guestrooms and I think owners also have their rooms here. Downstairs it is a restaurant (seafood is quite good and always fresh)where there is a flamenco show (good!)every night from 9 pm- approx. 11 pm. It is quite noisy, but who cares? You can have a night walk (safe - even in dark streets - because you will find at least 1 policeman on every corner) or enjoy the show during dinner. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is also OK. Do not forget, it is a 2 stars small hostel! I think, it is good quality in its category. Friendly staff, familiar athomsphere.

I don't know what it was about us when we checked in, but the Hotel staff didn't seem to like us. I guess because we looked pretty shabby with our backpacks and shorts on, but for 86 convertible pesos a night, this is probably considered quite an upmarket sort of place. At least, that's what the staff think, and they are probably right. There are only 5 rooms, all of which occupy the floor above the restaurant. Let's get one thing straight first: El Meson De La Flota is a restaurant, first and foremost, with (beautiful, air-conditioned, mini-fridge, clean and bright) rooms above it. This means that the very cool and loud Flamenco concert that starts at 9pm every night will keep you awake if you are trying to get a bit of shuteye early. The huge beautiful wooden doors to your private balcony are not exactly soundproof, so the sound of the water truck blasting its pumps away at 8am will definately wake you up, unless you've got earplugs or are very very hard of hearing. The rooms are very beautiful, and the restaurant downstairs is top-knotch, and the free breakfast is great, but the staff can seem a little stand-offish (perhaps normal for Havana?).
