The hotel's location is very good. Just around the corner from Museo de la Revolucion and the Paseo del Prado. It's a short walk to the big hotels around the Capitolio in Centro Habana; to the Malecon; and to old Havana. You won't find a cheaper hotel in this area.
However, during our one week stay, the air-conditioning system didn't work for 4 of the nights we were there. It was extremely warm and humid outside, and as we were travelling with a 13-month old baby, it was very difficult for all of us to sleep at night. The front desk service was lacking and a bit "robotic", but the restaurant / bar staff, camarera (chambremaid) and doormen were really nice.
Breakfast at the hotel was the same old food everyday, but it's okay, this is Cuba, I figured. At least there's cable tv in the room, showing American channels like MTV and ESPN.
The only reason this hotel is getting a trip advisor 3-dot rating (neutral/average) is because we only paid $600 per person for this vacation, including flight from Toronto. The rating would have been a 2-dot (okay, but some problems) if we would have paid the hotel's posted rates, which were much higher.
