This must be the coolest place we have ever stayed in. The staff were great and th atmospher very relaxing. Although the Breakfast was in a cafe 10 seconds down the road it was perfectly adiquate (remembering you are in Cuba not New York) and overall a great base to see the sights of the City.

Los Frailes is a really good hotel where to stay at l'Havana. It's located in between Plaza Vieja and Plaza San Francisco de Asis, so you can reach all the main places of Old Havana and Avana Centre simply walking. The service is good and the rooms are perfectly clean. Most of the rooms have not windows but, as you will discover, this is not a problem at all! Fresh comfortable and original place where to come back after a long walk around the city.
We spent 4 nights there at the beginning of the vacation (reserved from Italy - Internet web site) and, due to the good quality, we came back one more night before to come back home (Italy), reserving the room directly in Cuba with a phone call.
N.B. the taxi cannot arrive in front of the hotel. Suggestion: tell the taxi driver to arrive at Plaza San Francisco de Asis, just few m from the hotel.

I have used trip advisor frequently and think it's brilliant... i have finally felt compelled to join.

We stayed at hostal los frailes this May - it has a nice entrance but the atmosphere is quite off. We found the reception staff snooty and unhelpful - we couldn't even get a smile out of them.

Our room was nice but the lack of window made it feel a bit claustraphobic despite the high ceilings. Whilst not ideal, it was ok. however when i had £40 cash stolen out of a inner zipped up bit of my rucksack I was really disappointed. When i went to tell the staff on reception they as good as told me that i must be lying which i thought was simply outrageous. They called the cambermaid, telling her of my accusation before asking her to come to reception where I felt abused. I was not reinbursed or even given an apology that less than 24 hours into our holiday i had had money stolen from their staff.

I would not recommend that anyone stay at this hotel and i am pretty easy to please!

It is a lovely hotel, we stayed here for a week. The rooms are very nice, dark because of no windows but this also makes them cool. Breakfast at the cafe on the corner wasn't too good but it was ok. The maid din't seem to clean the room, just move the towels and make the bed. However we would have recommended the hotel until we checked out and they presented us a mini bar bill for 26 drinks (which we did not have). We argued this and they had no evidence, we agreed that we had had 13 and paid for these. We then left our luggage and went for lunch, when we came back new bills had suddenly appeared showing another 8 drinks which they then expected us to pay for, considering that the mini bar hadn't been restocked for 3 days this was impossible and I think very rude. They actually argued it with us and it was a complete lie.
