“Worth a stroll to this out of the way park.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

This is a sculpture on a park bench. Its good bit the glasses have been removed from the statue so many times there is a local attendant who holds them for safe keeping and puts them on when you want a to take a photo!!. Nice arrangement. Its the best thing in the park though regrettably as the grounds are somewhat run down, but still worth a visit.

“I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one…”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

John Lennon Park is a lovely place to visit at any time of the day. A little oasis of calm within Havana the park is beautifully laid out with benches discretely positioned all around and a raised band stand in the centre.

Unfortunately most tourists to the park come with the mission of getting ‘the photo’ with John (with and without glasses) and spend maybe 10 – 15minutes (mostly queuing if they are on a tour bus). John’s name and statue may have given the park its fame but its true beauty can only be experienced by taking it slowly, sitting back (a distance from John’s bench) and letting it work its magic on you.

Visit the park (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) at 9am and you will be able to join the local tai chi group - up to 90 older people in their exercise routine. The majority of the members are aged late 60s and 70s but many are in their 80s and 90s. The group is supported by the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) and has been running for years. The members are very welcoming to visitors. You might become a regular for the duration of your trip and what a wonderful entry into Cuban life that would be.

It is also worth chatting with the charming custodians of John’s glasses. There are two care-takers in the park the elder one is a sprightly 94 year-old, his younger colleague in his 80s.

Male visitors might be interested to learn that there is a great barber on the edge of the park. Standing with your back to John walk to the opposite side of the park towards the right corner; when you reach the corner of the park face forward (with back to John) cross the road and walk straight (less than 1min) - the barber is on you left. Hair cut is about 15 pesos (25 pesos = 1CuC). Of course you will probably want to tip generously - for the quality of the hair cut and the unique experience.

“Park dedicated to John Lennon”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

A park that has a statue of John Lennon with an inscription on the ground, lyrics in Cuban/Spanish from 'Imagine'. Likeness of John is very good.

“Parque John Lennon is a simple tribute”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2011

All that there is in the park is a statue of Lennon on a bench. People keep stealing his glasses so a man is there guarding him and places the glasses on for tourist photos. Across the road is the famous Submarino Amarillo (no shorts allowed). These places are also not far on foot from the Necropolis. Food in the general area is good, taxi's are a little harder to come by around here. Nice quiet neighborhood.
