nice hotel , good location , exelent breakfast , gentle staff. i'll love to stay next time

Early morning check-in (5AM) was fast and efficient. Breaskfast was a pleasure (except I never did master the coffee machine - my mistake) with a wide variety of dishes, and a cook to prepare omlets, eggs and pancakes. On day three of a seven day stay, there was no water in the hotel, couldn't shower until after 7PM, workers up all night banging on pipes, the following day, no water again. THe hotel is open, and noise from the lobby can be heard throughout the hotel, and people in the lobby bar which is open around teh clock can get roudy. The window in the room was dusty, you could write your name in the dust, and leave messages, as we often did. The shower didn't work, the hose was too short, if you put it on it's mount, the tight ben in the hose that was stretched to the max, prevented any water flow. Also the hotel is poorly located for tourists, it is in a safe area, byt Havana is a long way away, and cabs charge anywhere from 4 to 25 CUC for the same trip, they often refuse to put the meter on. The beach in the area is not fit for swimming, and is dirty. If you have a choice choose another property. The elevators, that has a sign saying max. capacity 9 people can hold about four, are often slow, full, or in use by the executive suits on the top floor, they over ride regularly guests, and there are only three elevators.

A fairly anonymous "business" hotel. Not much of a Cuban feel (compared to the other hotels we stayed in). A couple of bars (lobby and roof), a buffet restaurant and a reasonable pool. Service was OK but not particularly friendly. Rooms OK, reasonable size and clean, and the bath even had a plug. Air conditioning was on its last legs though. Good view of the Russian Embassy. OK as a transit hotel but not really convenient for exploring Havana due to location on outskirts.

While some distance from all the action, it is a pleasant, clean and comfortable hotel with every amenity you could ask for. There is a grocery store within walking distance and the surronding neigbourhood is very pleasant. The staff is friendly and helpful. The pool is great and the workout facilities are excellent. The rooms are luxurious by Cuban standards and their was no mold.

The only draw back is the location. However, this is mitigated by a thrice daily shuttle that runs to various important locations for $3.00 CUC roundtrip. If you plan to stay in the old city after 7:00, the cab ride is about $10.00 CUC. For that distance, however, you get clean quiet and comfortable lodgings. If you are a night owl, like to go bar hopping and enjoy old Havana's fine night life, you may elect to stay elsewhere (unless you do not mind the cab fare). However, if you are a day person and like to have a nice place to rest after taking in the sites, I would highly recommend it.
