I had given much thought about staying a night or two in Havana during my trip to the Breezes Jibacoa. I actually had planned to stay at the Hotel Valencia, but decided to check out hotels during my day trip to Havana. I saw an agent at one of the Information Centres in Havana and she directed me to an agent at the Hotel Sarratogo. This was a fine hotel, but beyond my budget. I got a rate of 80 CUC for the Telegrafo, went there, and was amazed! I immediately checked-in and was very pleased with the hotel room! The location was excellent - close to shops, restaurants and the promenade. The restaurant and bar were magnificent. I enjoyed a very tasty breakfast the next morning (actually better than what was offered at my resort in Jibacoa). I will return to this hotel on future visits without question.
Although the Hotel Valencia was originally my first choice, when I went there, I found that it was over-rated and the restaurant prices were ludicrous - this was a major turn-off.
