Friends....I loved this Hotel....I loved the staff...I loved the location...I loved the wonderful Coffee they made me and the smiles...everyone was really nice to me...maybe thats because I was nice to everyone I met...you reap what you sow! I got to stay in Al Capones old room on the 6th floor...the views of Havana blew my mind and without being uppity I have been around more than somewhat. I am predjudiced...I was pre-diposed to love the place. The security guys were cool and always gave me 'the nod' ,waiters and chambermaids were cool ....they conspired to make me happier. I spent my last night at the 'Nacional' I wished I had had my last night with my amigos at the 'Sevilla'

  • Liked — Location....great staff....wonderful meals,especially breakfast!
  • Disliked — That I couldn't stay there longer and I had to go home!

Havana is reasonably interesting place, but only for a few days. I think the city can be covered in about 3 days. The city is safe- lots of police and friendly people (some too friendly- we simply did not engage them in conversation as they were touts). Visit the Bay area, old havana, the done up parts and the derilict parts, the various squares, palzas. revolution square, capiotolio, cigar factory. etc.. we specially enjoyed walking round the streets and alleyways. Hotel Sevilla was overall a good hotel- not the best nor the worst place we stayed. Its location was excellent- bordering, Old Cuba, Capitoli, Prado and the Bay- walking distance to most of the major places to see in Havana- we even walked back from Plaza Revolution. Hotel was grand, spacious and clean. Facilities and staff were also good and friendly. The buffet breakfast was good but the roof top restaurant is let down as its closed during the day- fantastic views of the city- food is very average for the price- very amaturish is the best way to describe it. Hotel has a small number of shops attatched to it- including- bank; salon; sports shop; pharmacy; cigar shop. If you're looking to eat and be entertained- then try Puerta de Sagua- good seafood restaurant. Try Cantina near Revolution for entertainment and the craft and arts fair at the bay/catherdral area.

Travelled with Travel Collection (Kuoni) Just about a 3 * hotel, but has a good view, hot water and good breakfast. Some decorative and plumbing minpr faults, but this is Cuba, and it is a poor country.
Has a very nice pool and poolside with a good gym. 20 minute walk on safe streets ( safer than London) to The Cathredral Square. Views fom rooftop restaurant are great, especially at sunset. This is a good hotel , but it is not 5*

Just back from 5 nights at this hotel. No problems. Room was very nice and clean. Loads of food for breakfast not great quality but you will find something you will like. For an extra 5pesos you can have breakfast at the roof top restaurant, which I would recommend to do at least once durning your stay.

Internet access is slow but OK. But be prepared to queue.
Pool area is nice and clean but a lot of noice from the road beside.

The lifts are very slow, but your on holidays so take your time.

Snack at the bar and pool arear are fine.

Good central location to explore Havana. Most places are within walking distance.

We stayed here for 6 nights over New Year 2007. Very friendly and helpful staff with good English. Good security provided by regular patrols. Lots of useful shops in the lobby (but the currency exchange can be a long wait). The pool is quite clean and beach towels are provided. There is also a 24 hour bar with decent food all night. Its a good idea to leave your cleaner a peso each day on a pillow for the funky towel arrangements and leaving present! A superb New Year's Eve with free food & booze was included in the price - worth considering for that time of year.

  • Liked — Historic building in Old Havana location
  • Disliked — N/A
  • Tips/Secrets: — Tip the chambermaid with 1 peso each day - get more towels and better service
