Just across the road from the Musuem of the Revolution, this hotel was all that I had imagined Havana to be - crumbling, slightly faded, a glimpse into the past and full of character. Yes, there was a bit of mould on the ceiling in the bathroom and the plaster work was a bit crumbly but with the high humidity, what can you expect? Was a bit worried when we found out our room overlooked the bar (open 24 hours) but the windows are double glazed, so no problem there. The Patio bar does an excellent Mojito and one evening they were using the old film projectors in the lobby to show old american black and white films!
Breackfast was chaotic - we asked for a cup, the waiter eventually brought six out and about 30 people jumped up to grab one! People were also queueing for a table. Not a relaxing start to the day but then 'this is Cuba'.
Staff all friendly and the maids left a lovely hand written note in our room.. My only complaint - I wasn't in Havana for longer!

I've stayed in three hotels in Havane the National, Hotel Flordia and the Sevilla is by far my favorite. It simply had a better atmosphere with freindly staff and good vibe around the pool. The hotel itself used to be very grand though a little tired, our room was good though the decoration was a bit old. The restraunt on the top floor has spectacular views and the food not bad by cuba standards, the bar down stairs does a mean Mojito and there is always live music playing. The hotel felt cuban whereas the others just felt a bit corporate.

After having stayed in casa particulares the whole holiday we decided to treat ourselves to one night in a hotel. The rooms are a great size and have a fridge. Generally clean however we had problems with our aircon which was not good at this time of year when it is so hot. Thats when the pool came to hand!!! Restaurant is nice with great views of the sunset however think that there are better restaurants in Havana Vieja for less money. Also note that they charge you for the room and breakfast. When you get the bill you notice there is the option of no breakfast which they dont tell you. Would say the 30 CUC is quite expensive for a buffet breakfast!!! Otherwise nice hotel

We stayed 4 nights at the Sevilla hotel in Havana. As others have said the location is perfect - right in the central touristic area close to many landmarks. The hotel is charming and chic and captures the atmosphere of Cuba perfectly. We found the staff really friendly and helpful - as with everywhere in Cuba you need to make just a bit of effort and smile and you reap the rewards. Live Cuban bands every night in the patio bar are great fun. If you remind yourself that it is only a 3 star you will be pleasantly surprised. Rooms are very clean - we had room 302 - a huge room with really high ceilings. The bathroom was a little tired - but good working shower and no shortage of hot water. Air con works well. We also stayed 1 night in the 5-star NH Parque Central - and for the sheer charm of the place I would choose the Sevilla every time!

I visited Habana with agroup of friends aand stayed in the Sevilla for 11 nights

Great central location, could easily walk around old Habana from this hotel, 5 minutes from the Capital building, and 15 from the open market by the Harbour.

Food in the hotel was a bit basic, breakfast a bit repetative, but saved by girl making omletes and fried eggs to order. Best food was to be had in the rooftop restuarant, but this was a bit more pricey. Had an evening meal at the buffet in the Hotel National 20cuc, best value food we had during our stay. Our room on the 6th floor had a great view of the harbour area and the lighthouse. It was well looked after, good clean bathroom but lacked the fridge some other had.

You could get a city tour bus to the beach 5 mins walk away 5cuc for a day ticket, 40 mins bus journey,so you could easily combine a beach and city break. Same ticket allowed you to use 3 diffent city tour buses so great value and could be used to get around if you timed your journeys.

I went scuba diving in Mirimar, a 10cuc taxi fair and good shore diving of the Malacon, plenty of small life, Moray eels, devil and puffer fish amonst the usual suspects, for some reason no lobsters.

Music in the lobby bar varied, some very good, but some at best average, be prepared to be offered cd's by every performer, a trait repeated throughout Habana. The bar stayed open as long as there were customers around, and the barstaff very friendly and happy to chat. Only downside was the mojitos which I rated amonst the poorest we were served in Habana.

Had thought 11 nights in Habana may have been a bit much before we arrived, but time flew in there was plenty to do and see, and plenty of different types of restuarants if you looked around. Too many highlights to mention them all, but with a good guidebook and a good pair of walking shoes you could easily amuse yourselves for twice as long.
