We stayed at the Sevilla for 4 nights at the end of February. We arrived there about noon, and fortunately our room was ready. We were on the 4th floor, in a room next to the lifts. Despite previous mentions of constant noise generated from the lifts, this did not seem to be a problem, and I did not have any trouble with noise (and I am a light sleeper). While on the subject of lifts the hotel has 2 new lifts, which are speedy! We never waited more than a few seconds for a lift the entire stay!
The room was fairly small. There was not much room around the bed. One of our suitcases went on the floor- the other inside the cupboard. There was a dresser, and a large desk with a chair, a TV and a small refrigerator. There was a safe inside the cupboard that was opened with the room key.
We did not have a view at all, but even if we did, the desk was placed in front of the window, so it was not easy to see outside.
The bathroom was adequate. The water pressure was not very good. It took a while for the water to heat up and a couple of times there was no hot water. The bed and pillows were comfortable.
The room was a bit shabby (paint peeling, etc) but was clean. The airconditioning worked well, and was not noisy.
The lobby area was large with lots of seating. There seemed to be constant entertainment in the bar area. What we did see (as we were going past) looked good.
Breakfast was OK. The staff seemed a little disorganised/disinterested and the tables often were without cutlery, so people had to wait for tables, despite the room not being busy. The omelettes were good.
Overall, I was happy with our stay the Sevilla, particularly given the average reviews. The location is great, and we were able to walk to most of our destinations. We did not feel unsafe walking at night in the area. However I do think it is a little expensive for the quailty of the hotel, and if I were in Havana again I would probably stay somewhere different .
