Hotel Sevilla
My husband and I have just returned from 11 days in Cuba. We spent three days in Havana. Havana should not be missed - all those wonderful buildings, broad boulevards and colonnaded streets but so sad to see such dilapidation. We visited two museums, the Musee de Ciudad and the Musee de la Revolucion - both fascinating.
We stayed at the Hotel Sevilla which could not have been better situated - we could walk everywhere. Its position gives it the 4 star rating but the Hotel itself is more 3 star and needs to be spruced up. The two lifts which were working were erratic and very slow. Our room was a good size and well equipped. It had a small balcony looking over the Prada.and views over the roof tops of Havana It was well maintained by the maids The bath was chipped and the tap dripped but the loo was modern. Downstairs looked grand but the decor deteriorated as you went up. Breakfast was excellent but the bar food though served with a smile could have been more inspired. The music in the bar area - particularly the jazz flautist was great.
The weather was not good, mostly overcast with occasional bursts of heavy rain so we did not have an opportunity of trying the pool which looked delightful.
On our first morning, we took a trip round Havana which was very useful and thereafter walked everywhere.
