We booked this hotel on line for the final 2 days of our holiday as a bit of a treat. For the price I feel that maybe it should have included a toilet seat, towels and house keeping. The 4 pm check in was also bit of a hassle especially considering the stink from the front desk when we were 10 minutes late checking out ! (12 check out). Anyway, you can't beat the location or the view and the terrace is nice.

My husband and I stayed at the Hostal San Miguel in Feb 06. We initially wanted to stay at the Hotel Florida but they were all booked. After staying at the San Miguel, we were very pleased with our choice. While the Hotel Forida had a great location and was very classy, the San Miguel had excellent service and with only 10 rooms it was much more intimate.
The bathrooms were great, the rooms with their very high ceilings and antique furniture were bright and decorated very tastefully. (They were also spotless!) The front desk and other staff were helpful, friendly, honest, and had good senses of humor. Our room opened up onto a little balcony that overlooked the street life and the ocean beyond that. I would definitely stay there again, rather than in one of the bigger boutique hotels.

Nice clean place, great view from the balcony. They have internet and give a free drink at the bar after check in. Friendly staff with good english.

After spending several nights at private homes (this is also highly recommended, not just for money but for knowing true Cuba) in three cities, we stayed one night at this hotel before leaving Cuba. Although named as "hostal", San Miguel is a full-service boutique hotel, situated in front of the park roughly at the north end of old Havana.
The hotel has a terrace overlooking Havana bay and el Morro Fortress, where the guests can also enjoy food or drink. The room was spacious, quiet and very clean with comfortable bed and a satellite TV which helped to bring us back to ordinary life. The service at this hotel was precise and attentive and we would love to stay this hotel again.
