I stayed at the Conde De Villanueva in Oct. 2003.
Staff mixed up my reservation but they were very helpful. I had paid for the hotel at home but when I went to check-in they indicated they did not have a reservation for me, despite my presentation of the hotel voucher provided by my travel agent.
The hotel is in Old Havana within walking distance (10-20 minutes walking) of all major attractions.
The rooms are large. Beds are slightly creaky. Bathrooms only had a tub which was inconvenient. All rooms are named after a cigar theme.
A great cigar shop is on site.
The food in the restaurant is the best I've had in Cuba. I had halibut sprinkled with almonds and it was fabulous.
There are peacocks roaming the courtyard.
All around great hotel. I plan to stay here again.
