I was in Cuba with my friend for three weeks in august/september 2011. We started and ended our journey in Havanna and both times we stayed at the beautiful Casa El Mirador.
During our trip we saw a few houses in different parts of Cuba but none of them really compaired with Casa El Mirador. The house is simply beatiful (clean and cosy with airconditioning), bedroom was big enough for two people who didnt want to share a bed. Bathroom (shower&toilet) was good even in "western standarts" which is something that you cant say about most of the houses. Casa is safe because its behind two locked doors and you will have all the privacy you need. Location is near the sites of old havanna and you dont need a taxi if you are not afraid of 10 minutes of walking. Isabels food was simply delicious. Every morning at breakfast there was good Cuban coffee, omelet, fresh bread, fruit juice and fresh fruits enough to make you move till late in the evening. Dinners were also perfecto (better than any restaurant i visited in Havanna).
Julio and Isabel are great hosts, friendly and made us really feel at home. There were absolutely no problems with them. Julios english is good and that was a huge help since my spanish skils was just si and no. Julio even helped us to get our luggage back from te airport and gave us some very useful tips travelling around Cuba and cubans in generally.
This Casa is really worth its cost and even more!
When I go back to Havanna i will definetly stay in Casa El Mirador.
