“One of many squares in Havana”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

The Bronze sculpture here was very modern and interest. Lots of local ladies in period costumes ready to have you take their picture (for a few coins)

“Great square to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

Beautiful old square with a delightful fountain and church - great spot to take photos. Watch out for the kissy girls - cuban ladies dressed in costume who will hassle you for a kiss and then expect to be paid. Lots of hustlers in the area from peanut sellers to an elderley man selling newspapers.

“Peanuts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Go and enjoy the sight of the plaza only but don’t buy the peanut cones (est. no more than 20 grams) from the maniseros (peanut sellers). I went to the square yesterday and this woman manisera was trying to rip me off asking 1 Convertible Pesos 0.20 (CUC1.00 is more or less equiv. to US$1.00) for a cone. The standard price for a cone of peanuts is 1 Cuban peso. The difference between Convertible Pesos and Cuban Pesos is 1 and 24 so 1 cone should be 0.04 cents. OK, I hear you, it’s peanut but an inflated value of 500% is not especially when the estimated inflation in Cuba according to the Economist Intelligence Unit is only 6% for 2013. But then again, tourists do get conned from time to time so let's hope it’s only peanuts.

“Beautiful”

Very beautiful place with monastery and ex-trading house (market). You can visit it while strolling through Havana streets. There is also an exchange office.
