I thought it would be noisy, but with ac and windows closed it was not a problem. However if smoking bothers you, maribel and her nephew both smoke in living room in the am. In bedroom it is not an issue.

Stayed here for a night on a trip to Havana. Our guide couldn't get us into the original choice and I'm glad. This was right in the heart of the city close to bars and restaurants. As the other reviews have said very clean, hot water, air con and in reality you get what you pay for. The owners still don't speak much English but an please, thank you, a smile and 'omlette' more or less is the same in any language. Which brings me to brekkie fresh Nd plentiful. Worth a stay if you are in the city.

I went without an idea of where the house was (location in the Habana) and I can say that this was the BEST place that I could stayed.

Maribel and her daughter Rocio were amazing. Great location, clean rooms, private bathrooms, really close to Plaza de la Revolucion and Teatro Nacional.

I stayed 2 weeks in Casa Maribel with a small group of ladies. The casa is very nice. Location was suberb in the Havana Vieja close to all activities and restaurants. You should definitely stay in Old Town when in Havana! Casa owner and the staff were friendly and helpful. Staff does not speak too much English, but didn't matter. The breakfast good and a lot: fresh fruit, delicious eggs, fresh fruit juice, meat, bread, coffee. All facilities and rooms were very clean and the ceiling decorations pretty. Our yellow room upstairs was the biggest and very nice (can fit an extra bed too). Shower with hot water. The owner lives in casa. There is not really any common area to hang around, but it looked like they were building a roof terrace, so you'll be able to enjoy there the salsa music coming from around. I'd definitely stay again!

Room Tip: If you're travelling with a group of 4, ask for the 2 rooms upstairs sharing a bathroom and a sm...

Great location in old Havana situated around the pedestrian and action filled street Obrapia. Generally quiet, clean and friendly hosts, albeit little English spoken. The hosts were exceptionally accommodating which is quite common in the "casa" experience. My room was smallish with no proper window, little impact personally but a forewarning to others in the case that this is a requirement. Be diligent when you book as my experience is that an owner will take a booking and then forward you to another house. The owner here has a second house (Casa Obrapia) and when I booked I thought it was with that house. In the end it was with Casa Maribel. No issue in the end as it tuned out well. Overall good stay; this gets my recommendation.

We cannot imagine a more wonderful place to stay in Old Havana. The location is superb: a half block from Obispo, the main (all pedestrian) shopping street; about two blocks from "Central Park," with several big, famous hotels (with Internet), the capitol building, the gorgeous old theater, and lots of old-car taxis; and short walks to all the important museums and old plazas.

The hostess, Maribel, and her staff are all warm, helpful, considerate. They went out of their way to help us find boxes for packing, and had endless helpful suggestions.

The house is spotlessly clean. Every room has a refrigerator and air conditioning. The room on the upper floor has a living room with a balcony overlooking the fascinating street scene, at no extra cost.

The breakfasts (about $5 usd) are lavish with eggs as you like them, sausages, toast with several spreads, potatoes, plus extras like little fish cakes and small pizza slices. We liked the cooking so much that we elected to eat dinner there several nights and, for about $10 usd, had a delicious, memorable lobster-tail dinner!

And all this for about $30 usd per night. With the personal loving care; friendship with a local family; clean, bright rooms; being right smack in the heart of everything; and at a quarter of the price of the least expensive hotel room we could find, we can't recommend Maribel highly enough.

We are seasoned travelers and although the amenities of the B&B are spare, we couldn't have been more pleased. Maribel is a gem.

Room Tip: Room up 2nd flight of stairs with living room.
