Marta and Ramon's Casa particulare offers a safe, pleasant retreat in the heart of old Havana. You get a large, clean, interior room and advice from Marta to help you explore old Havana. Family activities go on around you and let you soak up Cuban culture while resting from the bustle of Havana. The location is 5 star. Marta can help guide your explorations. We ate several breakfasts which were filling and tasty. Overall the ambiance makes this a fine place to stay and explore old Havana.

We staid here few days in our trip to Cuba. We booked the room with an email and when we arrived mrs Martha has waited us. The rooms are very large, clean with private bathroom. Also we took the breakfast here which was great: fruits, butter, juice, eggs etc. The staff is so warm and helpful and we felt there like we were at our grandparents. I would like to mention that the location of Casa Martha y Ramon is perfect: two minutes to Capitolio, two minutes to Bodeguita del Medio, two minutes to Calle Obispo, the commercial street from Havana. If you want to feel the real Havana, dont stay in a 5 stars hotel, but choose Casa Martha Y Ramon for a real experience, for feeling the spirit of Havana

We had a great experience staying at Casa Marta y Ramon. Marta was extremely helpful and very sweet, but much more comfortable speaking Spanish than English. The breakfasts were yummy and large. The rooms were basic, but spacious and with tall ceilings. Each had a private bathroom, which was really nice, and it was pleasant to be on the ground floor.

Wasn't overly impressed with this casa. It's in a good location but apart from that there's not much going for it. The rooms are very basic, the bathroom is actually in the bedroom with a magnetic curtain hanging around it. It was by far the most expensive and least nice of the casas we stayed in in Cuba. Also it was the only place we stayed in that we saw cockroaches.
We were also given a curfew of 12am.

It's tough to communicate if you don't have any spanish as only the granddaughter has any english and she didn't seem to be around too much.

In saying all that though it's fine if you just want a bed for the night and aren't going to be spending any time there really.

The best thing about this casa is its location: in the NW of Havana Vieja less than 10 minutes walk either to Plaza Centrale or Plaza de la Catedrale. It's in an unprepossessing side street but safe at night. Once inside it's a pleasant & comfortable house. Marta speaks little English but her grand-daughter, if present, speaks it well. We had two rooms with windows that opened onto the indoor passage that runs the length of the house. Both were ensuite, one with a double & two single beds, the other with double bed, neither luxurious but both perfectly adequate. Very good breakfast & large evening meal.

We spent a week, Jan 17-24, 2012 in Cuba staying at a casa particular in Old Havana. We found the host family to be welcoming, pleasant & the service excellent. The room for 2 was 30 CUC per night. We had a clean basic room, a private bath with a shower & lots of hot water. We had excellent meals with a good variety, fresh fruit every morning & extremely generous portions, more than we could eat as a rule, the meals were 5-10 CUC each. We ate breakfast & dinner in every day. We were within walking distance of all the sights in Old Havana which was excellent for us; we explored the city but were still close enough to go back for a rest when we needed to. We felt safe on foot. We travelled by bus for 3CUC round trip to a beautiful beach, Santa Maria del Mar. Over all we had a pleasant experience and would recommend this casa to anyone interested in economical accommodations.

On arriving in Havana late in the evening we were welcomed with a wide smile. A lovely Casa. Breakfast the next day was very filling (fruit: guava, banana, melon, fresh bread, butter and honey, tea or coffee, eggs, fresh fruit juice). The rooms consisted of a comfy bed, clean bathroom, hot water shower and clean towels. Breakfast on request at anytime, as well as a hearty dinner (choice of meat with rice and / or salad pork, chicken, seafood choice). A great location for Havana Veja within walking distance of all squares and sites. Tip: Take a universal plug for the basin (generally not supplied in the 3 Casa's we experienced in Cuba).
