Stayed at the Florida for 3 days in May as part of our honeymoon.

Hotel is a lovely restored colonial building right in the centre of the old town. The rooms were comfortable with air con, table and chairs, large wardrobe (inc safe), big bathroom and balcony. The chambermaids did a great job and left us some lovely towel sculptures in the room.

Breakfast was included with our stay and included pastries, bread, cheese, meat, fruit as well as a bacon, eggs etc. Obviously with this being Cuba its not up to UK standards but it was prefectly edible.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our taxi didn't turn up on the last day and they couldn't do enough to help.

This hotel is not as well equiped as some of the large hotels but the location and the old building was what did it for us. There was a bit of noise due to its location but we didn't find this a problem at all.

Havana as a whole is excellent just to wander around. We did the open top bus tour from the harbour as this is a good overview of the city. The Museum of the Revolution is interesting and a good way to escape the heat for an hour. Don't go to Havana for shopping or amazing food (you won't go hungry though) but the people are very friendly and the place is fascinating.

Upgraded to suite upon arrival. Nice staff and the best location. We had so much fun! Two negatives in our stay. One-the air conditioning seemed to turn down at night. During the day the room felt cool and refreshing but a few times during our stay we woke up very hot in the middle of the night. The other issue we had was finding a hypodermic needle on the porch of our hotel-which apparently is a common problem. A women across the street seems to throw them across after her insulin injections. The hotel dealt with the problem swiftly and were very apologetic but it ended at that.

Choosing an Old Havana hotel seemed a lottery....but this IS A GOOD PLACE TO STAY. I've read other reports about staying in the room over the nightclub...and that is exactly the room we had! You are lulled to sleep with the Salsa rhythm...or you were in the nightclub anyway !
Staff here were generally much better than (the more expensive) Hotel Raphael, which we stayed in later in our travels.

Architecturally, this hotel is beautiful representation of Havana's glorious past. It's located a short distance from Parque Central and is in the World Heritage-listed Old City.

The hotel represented average value, with the positives and negatives as follows:

Positives
Large, attractive room and bathroom.
Attractive, plant-dominated atrium.

Negatives
Front desk staff were inconsistent at best: occasionally not knowing their job (I do speak Spanish, so language was not an issue.) and presenting as disinterested at times.

This was our first hotel in Havana, and it was one of the best we stayed in - but remember good for Cuba is decidedly average by world standards. The room was a decent size with a lovely colonial feel, a comfortable double bed and a massive bathroom. Staff were friendly, but the food was shocking
