We booked this hotel for the last night of our trip and thought it was lovely. The only negative was that we couldn't turn the air conditioning off so it was on the chilly side.

The building is gorgeous, centered around a relaxing (covered) courtyard. It's in a great location in Havana Vieja with the main squares all within walking distance. The room itself was good with a large elegant bathroom. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the bar had live music and salsa dancing. There was low noise from the bar but not from the street (or cockerels or traffic that we'd had elsewhere)

Breakfast was OK - standard Cuban fare. The plus was cold milk to go with the cereal!

A good hotel for being in the heart of Havana Vieja. We have no complaints about the room other than arriving on the first night and being told that they had no room as there was problems with the airconditiong. We were moved to Hotel Ambos Mundos for one night where we were allocated a lovely room.

When we arrived back the next day we were allocated a nice room on the upper floor and also given a free dinner for the problems the night before. The room was good. There was slight noise from the hotel bar downstairs through the skylight outside our room but this stopped at 11.30pm every night.

The breakfast and dinner were both good. One of the best things was being able to walk out of the hotel at 7.30am and explore Havana Vieja before there were too many tourists and when the temperature is cool.

We stayed two nights and arrived late in the evening due to baggage problems at Air France. Friendly welcome, but the receptionist tried to squeeze out some CUC out from some non-existent fees. Oh well, too obvious and we ignored it.
Breakfast was quite okay, nothing special - and the same goes for the dinner we tried.
We loved the HIGH ceilings and the decor in the halls. Rooms were a bit spartan.
The location is great in the middle of the Old Havana - close to everything there.
When we left, Air France still hadn't delivered our luggage, but the (new) receptionist were extremely kind and helpful in calling the airline and promising they would take care of it, even after we moved to a casa particular. She was really great.
Would we stay here again? If we couldn't go directly to a Casa, we would love to stay in this area again - and Florida could be an option ;-).

The Hotel Florida really is very traditional and you are right in the thick of Havana old town here so this means noise noise noise all night! The room was great, lots of character but the aircon had a life of its own, so noisy, we couldn't even get it to turn off, we were only here 1 night though!
The staff are very friendly and 1 bell boy very very good!
Breakfast was inedible, I mean i can put up with alot but there was nothing for me to eat, the bread was stale, butter had chives in it, the worst breakfast I have ever tried to eat, I mean I thought the Saratoga was bad but this was even worse! 2 other guests walked out without even trying anything and we weren't far behind. But be warned cos there isn't much to get elsewhere through the day so a good breakfast in your hotel is paramount in this city if you don't want to go hungry we found!
