If there is one hotel to avoid in Cuba: it's this one. All though a few years ago, I can still see they didn't improve it...

We switched rooms in this hotel 4 times. First room was tiny, damp and dark (only 1 15" window, but luckely the glass was broken, so you still got some fresh air... :s)

There was a broken rocking chair, lamps were broken, the bed was broken (totally sagged). But we left the room as we saw a pile of hair coming out of the drains (shower and sink).

We moved to another room, where we eventually had to kick in the door to enter, this door couldn't be more jammed... Airconditioning chased us away from that room and after another room we finally got upgraded to a 'suite'. Not that this was a better room, jst a little bit more spacious.

Buffet was horrible, at breakfast we had to clean our own spoons etc, we had to 'steal' china from other tables as there wasn't enough for everybody... Food was terrible, all though another hotel in Cuba actually managed to top that!

We had dinner in hotel Nacionale and this was so lovely, so apparently it is possible to serve good meals in Havana hotels...!

Book this if you are satisfied with a 1* 'hotel' or if you usually stay in hostels....

I loved this place! it's everything i wanted a havana hotel to be.Have an open mind and soak up this place!

We stayed in Hotel Plaza on three different occations during June and July 2007, so we saw three different rooms. The rooms are quite worn down, but the last room we stayed looked like it was renovated a bit. At least it was better than the two earlier ones. The rooms that are on street side can be really noisy.

All rooms were "stayable". They're worn down, but rather clean. There were differences in how clean/worn the bathrooms were.

The hotel has excellent breakfast and beautiful views from breakfast room. It also has a 24 h snack bar and a restaurant. All the staff were really helpful and friendly.

This hotel is difficult to rate: the service is more than three, the rooms are somewhere between 2 and 3 depending on room.
Location is perfect.

Hotel at all (rooms, lobby, facilities, room equipments) are really old. Ruins!!! But for 30 EUR (special price via internet in low season) you get room generally equals to "casa particulare", breakfast, TVs, AC, hot water in shower and very good location in the heart of Old Havana. So - not bad.
