Myself and my wife stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of December 2006.As we arrived outside the hotel, in the dark (and jet lagged) it looked uninpressive, however as we stepped into the foyer it was a different story it had a wow factor, very impressive with large leafy plants dotted around the large space with an atrium overhead letting in plenty of light during the day,the foyer area also has a lovely long bar that serves drinks and snacks untill the very early hours which may be consumed at any of the comfortable seating in the area... excellent !
Also in the foyer you will find the reception desk (very helpfull) and an exchange to get your Cuban convertible pesos, also an information office with lots of helpfull advise on touristy subjects.
Our room was great, nice and large with a very spacious double bed and sat TV if required, great bathroom with free standing shower all very very clean.
On the roof of the building you will find a fair sized pool with ample sunbeds and a pool attendant providing hotel towels, there is also a jacuzzi next to the pool ..its all vey nice and has the great bonus of a lovely view down onto the park and colonial Havana.
Just a few steps down from the pool area there is another good sized area with a bar for all your drinks/cocktail and snack requirements with open air and sheltered seating..Great !
Back to the foyer area, there are two resturaunts available, well at the time there was only one as a sign outside one of them informed guests it was being refurbished,we didn`t eat in the evening at the hotel resturaunts as we prefered to sample the bars and resturaunts in Havanna itself (and we weren`t dissapointed...but that`s another story)
Breakfast at this hotel is splendid, it`s served in the resturaunt with the refurbishment sign which is a tad puzzling !? but anyhow its great , buffet style with pastries, cereals, meats, juices and a chef cooking omlettes to your requirements. There`s also an unlimited supply of cava for you to help yourself to from the ice bucket....oh it`s all good !
The hotel is located in the colonial area of Havana, lots of interesting buildings etc within easy walking distance .. a top location ! ..why not jump into one of those tourist horse and trap tours and get a quick 1 hour tour around the area, it will orientate you for the remainder of your stay and will only cost around £10 max.
To summarise, this hotel is in an excellent location to see Havana sights, the service is excellent, its very clean, great pool with views and ameaneties and a breakfast you`ll remember for quite a while, this hotel is rated 5 star and it certainley reaches the mark , Enjoy
