I went to this hotel as a result of asking to be moved from another hotel. I was fairly impressed with this one - but then again it is in theory a 5*. Room was nice, the dining room was too and the food I tried (breakfast) was excellent. A great range of juices and food to suit every nationality. So far so good. The only down side is the pool. It is a traditional oblong and quite small. You get the impression its kind of for businessmen as you wouldn´t really want to spend much time here. It´s quite serious - so no kids to be seen really. The food in the bar area next to the pool is also very expensive. It is quite well situated though and in general I have to say I was happy with it and that I would be happy to go back there. There is also a disco on one of the upper floors but it has quite a few prostitutes in.
Would definitely recommend hiring a moped in cuba as you get to see loads of havana easily. I would also recommend taking a two part stay - part in havana and part in varadero (beaches). The only thing about cuba that does get annoying is people trying to rip you off. But it is understandable - as getting a few dollars off only a couple of people equals what a cuban earns working every day of the month. So there are more and more people doing this. You MUST check your restaurant and cafe bills as they are often mysteriously large compared to the prices shown on the menus.
