was the only hotel to get a last minute room 12/31/2007, stayed for 4 nights. the hotel indeed has problems mentioned by the other reviewers, however, my wife & I were quite pleased during out stay; the ocean view from our room is breath taking, the size of the room is wonderful. there are some apparent hardware problems, but understandable. The food in this hotel is quite nice; pastry is simply wonderful, something worth looking forward to every morning in the breakfast buffet. The roof top club has decent local band playing salsa music, with a good size dance floor. Pool on the 2nd floor is decent size, sufficient area for sun bathing. The lobby restaurant is relaxing and good place to hang out. The service in general is slower in Havana, in accordance with the pace of the city. So lower your expectation will improve the satisfaction factor immediately, haha.

We stayed at this hotel for one night whilst on a 2 day excursion to Havana. What a disappointment! The rooms were large but very dated, the airconditioning in the room wasn't working and there was no ceiling fan which made it very uncomfortable considering the high temperature at that time of the year.
We had a meal at the hotel which was included in our tour. The restaurant on the second floor which we were supposed to go to was being used that night for a function so we were told to attend the polynesian restaurant which belongs to the hotel but is situated further along the street and gives the impression of a dirty old nightclub. The food was cold and when this was brought to the attention of the staff they just took our plates away and we weren't offered anything else. We ended up eating in a cafe in the hotel which was slightly better but not much. If we hadn't been in a rush to get to the tropicana nightclub, again part of the tour and fantastic, we would have been happy going out and finding a restaurant as there appeared to be some very nice looking ones, especially the small family owned ones in the houses, but unfortunately time was against us.
The breakfast the following morning was no better. The bread for toast was frozen, once the butter ran out there was no more and only one coffee/tea machine worked - you can imagine the queue in such a large hotel.
Trying to report anything to the reception staff was a waste of time. They were rude and unhelpful, stating that they didn't understand what we were saying. This is hard to believe considering the amount of toursits who must visit this hotel.
The rooms on the higher floors did have amazing views, but be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for the lift - failing that use the staff only staircase which alot of guests seemed to do. There didn't appear to be a staircase for guests which concerned us had there been a fire.
Havana is an amazing place which I would definately visit again it was just a shame that the hotel let the excursion down.

Although I only have stayed in this hotel for 2 days, the experience was very good. Everything worked perfectly, the staff was very good as well as the facilities. It it also very well situated and the view from my room over the Old Habana, the Malecón and the sea was superb!
This hotel is very big, so it is normal that it had people everywhere at almost every hour. But it was not confusing staying there.
The room was huge, the view was funtastic and very clean!
The breakfast had lots of variety and good food. Around the hotel we could find some restaurants in alternative of the one of the hotel; they were good and quite cheap.
The hotel has a disco on the top floor where we can see the entire city as well as the stars (the roof is opened at a certain hour).
I would recomend this hotel to anyone...

I can sum this hotel up in one word - AWFUL. I wouldn't even recommend this hotel to somone I didn't particularly care much for.

The room was awful as the bedding smelt like it hadn't been dried properly before being put back onto the bed, the evening buffet was awful and breakfast was even worse. Thank god I was only staying for one night!!

The bar had no orange juice, no white wine or Malibu and when our friends asked if they had Peach Schnapps, they were offered a tin of peaches and a can of Sprite.

The staff were rude and service was very poor. I even had to clear a table of someone else's breakfast things before going and getting fresh cutlery myself from one of the very rude staff.

Unless you want to be disappointed, please don't waste your money staying at this hotel.

So we only had to stay here one night.. That was a good thing.
Havana is a wonderful city and we had so much fun but this Hotel is just gross.

I have traveled all over and I am not picky about many things but the state of this hotel was below par.
We were on the 11th floor and it was a great view. But it was so nasty.
The bathroom had not be cleaned but they said it had. There was pee all ove the toillet seat and floor.
The sheet were still dirty and there was hair and stuff all over the floor.

The buffet had ants all over the floor and on the chairs.
The cushions were so dirty I felt like I didn't want to sit down.
I know that in our group all the other people said the same thing,
So 30 couples can't be wrong.
It could be a wonderful hotel again if they kept it up.
Please don't saty here there are many other small hotels that would be so much better.
