This was me and my girlfriends first experience in Cuba, and after reading all the reviews was not sure what to expect from this hotel.
The best thing about this hotel is its location, its right in the heart of the Malecon, and Centro Habana. Habana Vieja is about a 5 to 10 minute walk away which is quite lively during the day and night. Casa de la Musica (one of the best clubs in Havana) is a few minutes walk away, as is Chinatown, and various other bars and restaurants. There are a few bars about a minute from the hotel that serve some incredible Mojito's for about 2CUC a drink.
The hotel itself actually exceeded our expectations, and we have stayed in some pretty bad hostels around the world. What your paying for in this hotel is location and its important to remember that, and apart from staying in a Casa, Duaville lets you see Havana from a wonderful starting point.
The breakfast in the hotel is actually quite good, they have a wide selection of food including a chef who cooks you up a fresh fried egg or a omelette. In comparison to food in cuba we were actually impressed with the food here.
The hotel itself has a club on the ground floor but it can be quite loud if your planning on a early night. We did a excursion to the Vinales Valley which was actually quite disappointing considering the price, so to anyone who is considering this I would probably avoid unless you go for the night.
The only negative point about the hotel was the service we recieved from the reception staff which was extremely rude and unfriendly.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone else as it gives you the perfect base for exploring havana. In addition Havana is a beautiful city and I would recommend people to spend atleast 4 days to gain a real insight into Havana.
