Stayed in this hotel for 9 nights (b+b) back in May after booking the holiday with theholidayplace.com.

The 'bungalow' room (first floor flat) was fantastic. Very very large clean apartment with 2 balconies, massive bed, fridge, satellite tv and effective air conditioning.

The hotel seemed fairly quiet, but this was probably due to the time of year. There are many pools on site about 7 we counted i think and would often have one of these to ourselves in the late afternoon, which was lovely. The sunbeds are very comfortable!

The beach area is a small man-made beach area but we didnt use it.

The breakfast wasn't particularly great often consisting of the previous-nights buffet food, but the fresh fruit and pastries were good. I would recommend the cooked to order omlettes.

We ate in both the on-site Italian and Grill restaurants and had pleasant meals with attentive service at a very reasonable price. The cocktails/beers were excellent and also well priced. There is also a 24-hour poolside snack bar (not noisy) on site serving snacks such as burgers, sandwiches and ice creams. This was a god send when we arrived hungry at 3am after a long flight!
I would recommend a visit to the El Alijibe restaurant in Miramar - a short taxi ride from the hotel as the food there was great.

There is also an on-site supermarket which is handy for water etc.

Both the reception staff and Cubanacan reps were very helpful and attentive. We changed our £ into CUCs several times at reception, no problems. Through the Cubanacan reps we booked some excursions - a half day classic car tour of Havana, a 1 day trip to the Mogotes/Pinar del Rio and another 2 day over night excursion to the villages in the centre of Cuba, such as Trinidad and Santa Clara. All the trips were good and well organised. We also got our tickets for the fabulous Tropicana show from the reps, which is definately worth a watch.

The hotel is about a 15 minute journey into the centre of Havana either by taxi (10-12CUCs or £5-6) or the free hotel courtesy coach which left the hotel at 9am, 11am and 9pm (i think from memory). We would take the coach into town and then get a taxi back. I would recommend going into Havana at night for a meal as it is very atmospheric with music playing in all the bars. You could get the 9pm coach in and get the 11pm coach back and still have time for a meal and a wander/drink.

Whilst the hotel is not in the centre of Havana, the trip in along 5th Avenue and the Malecon is lovely and being able to cool down in a choice of swimming pools after a hot days site seeing is worth the 15min journey back to the hotel without a doubt. The city is very hot and a bit car fumey so it was great to escape after a long hot day.

I would definately stay in this hotel again.

Stayed in bungalow section in one bedroom bungalow. unfortunatelly only 2 nts before we went for our beach holiday to Varadero. I really loved this hotel. It doesn't look like a city hotel at all. A little bit further from the center but it is not a problem because there are buses going to the center and futher to the old Havana a few times a day.The bungalows are very spacious with a good size bedroom, living room, bathroom and a balcony. The rooms are newly decorated so everything looks fresh and bright. The swimming pool is just amazing, going round all the bungalows!
The food was nice, can't complain at all (very good italian restaurant). the service was nice, friendly and helpful always.
i am going there next year again!.

Situated on the coast approximately 20 minutes taxi ride west from old Havana, the Cubanacan Hotel Comodoro claims to be a 4* hotel. I would say 3*!

However, our room was amazing – an enormous bed, large living room with kitchen, and en-suite bathroom and balcony facing onto one of the many long swimming pools which thread their way through the "bungalow" area. The air conditioning in the room was very effective, and kept the room at a comfortable temperature despite the heat and humidity outside.

There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to old Havana, which runs about 6 times a day. Otherwise a taxi from the hotel costs about 12CUC (GBP £6.50) or a "coco taxi" back can cost you about 10CUC (GBP £5.40), so for a few days stay, not so expensive!

The biggest let down of the hotel were the restaurants. They say you should never go to Cuba for the food, and this is reflective here. Breakfast was included, and was not particularly good. Inconsistent service meant there were not always basic items such as milk, drinking glasses and cutlery. Machine coffee and concentrate orange juices were not reflective of a 4* restaurant. The Italian and Cuban restaurant on site served bland food, with typically disinterested service.

There is a small shopping centre close to the hotel with a small supermarket, which is very useful when heading out for day.

We would definitely stay here again next time we visit.

Beautiful - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Great decor - FAB rooms.

A bit out of town.

No real beach here to speak of - but getting into Havana is OK.

Very nice!

We stayed for 3 nights after transferring from an all-inclusive hotel in Guadalavaca. After the peaceful and elegant surroundings at the beach resort, this hotel was bit of a comedown. We had a very nice room (almost a suite, with a sea view) in the main hotel, although I think were were lucky, most rooms are pretty basic, with no view. The main hotel sees a big changeover of people. The bungalows would be much better for a longer stay. The pool area surrounding these is very nice. There is an artificial beach and seawater lido. The main criticism is the rather variable customer servcie. Some staff were very helpful, but generally we found they just didn't try hard enough. The reception staff seemed especially indifferent and did not provide a good first impression. Breakfast was good, provided you were lucky enough to find plates, cups etc. and getting a coffee in the breakfast room proved quite a challenge. Location is not great - it's a long way from the main attractions of Havana, and the immediate surroundings are nothing special (although the beautiful 5th Avenue is only a few minutes away for a stroll). There is a good shuttle bus, but the timings are a bit awkward. Hpwever,. we found you could go in on the 9.30 pm bus and have a confortable couple of mohitos in a bar and dinner and still be back on the 11.30 return. (Restuarant La Mina in the square close by the bus drop off is highly recommended). At other times we took taxis which were cheap, only about 8 CUC. Overall, I would say that this hotel is a bit lacking in 'soul'. It's perfectly OK as part of a package for a few nights stay but I wouldn't choose it as the main base for a holiday. It would be worth paying more for a hotel with more character in Centro Habana or Vedado.
