Spent 9 days at the Comodoro - wanted somewhere comfortable to laze in the sun but close enough to central Havana to experience the city. The Comodoro delivered on both fronts. The bungalows are comfortable with a lounge/kitchen area and a double bedroom. Two televisions and a fridge for the cold beer/rum! Two balocnies (one overlooking one of the pools). There were no kitchen bits like cups etc but they are supplied if you ask (I think they're on demand to minimise losses).
The room decor was a bit tired-looking but who cares. All the staff were pleasant and efficient.
Jan/Feb are the coolest months but still well hot enough for us. The bonus was that it was nice and quiet round the pool etc. The beach is a bit of a man-made joke but at least they've made the effort. We went bed and breakfast and the breakfasts were good. A bit of a strange mix but hey, it's Cuba and it's a holiday - what better time to try sticky cakes for breakfast! There is a nice Italian restaurant just off the lobby and very good value (around 15 - 20CUC for 2 with drinks). The free coach to Havana was good and it's worth going 3 or 4 times to see all the main bits.
One word of warning - steer clear of the on-site supermarket. The staff are as cheerful as a wet weekend, the stuff is old and dusty and it's expensive. The good news is that there is a nice new supermarket just across the road at the rear of the modern shopping/office buildings. Friendly staff, clean modern facilities and a good selection of drinks and foodstuffs etc. Don't confuse this place with the other supermarket 500mtrs down the road called Supermarket70 - it's not much better that the on-site one and it's not worth the walk.
I agree with the other reviewers - this would be a four star were it not for the worn-out look of some of the rooms.
We'd go again.
Oh, one other thing - try and get a Virgin flight rather than Cubanair - they were dire!
