stayed in the bungalow section for 4 days in a 2 bedroom bungalow this was big enough for us 2 adults and 2 childern by far very clean so no problem there air con in all rooms bar bathroom which can get very hot i.e sweating as you get out the shower (very powerful shower) just remember you are going to cuba do not expect 5 star but enough of that we ate at the italian resturaunt which cost about 4.50cuc for a pizza and 1.50cuc soda or water 500ml we also done the buffet 15.00cuc per adult childern are free not sure what age upto drinks are the same price as the italian there is also a cheap burger,pizza and chinese food court very limited seating and menu but 1.30cuc burgers,fries 0.50cuc and drinks between 0.60-1.00cuc also very limited english speaking there so pick up a bit of spanish if poss. pool was fine did'nt eat at the snack bar but i believe for burger and fries 6.50cuc drinks also 1.50cuc there's a supermarket there bottled water 1.5ltr 0.70cuc plus coke,sprite and fanta 0.70cuc plus booze and cig's (not cigar's) there's a free shuttle bus into old havana get the time table from guest services but if getting a cab should be 8.00-10.00cuc no more then 10cuc if going the craft market is open wednesday-sunday hope you have a nice time

We stayed at the comodoro as part of our honeymoon and feel its important to point out something: The room we had in the main hotel was of a very low standard, wasn't very clean and badly needed renovating, while the publicity photos for the hotel usually show the bungalows (these are around the pool area) which are a lot more modern. So, if possible, ensure that you can get rooms in the right place! The pool was nice, the location is a bit out of town, but this isn't a problem as taxis are cheap.

Of course, this is Cuba, so customer service is not a strong point, but overall it was ok.

Visited Hotel Comodoro on May 8th 2008 for a 1 night stay, following 12 fantastic nights in Varadero. First impressions were good, nice size bungalow, good bedroom and spacious sitting area. On closer inspection, the kitchenette was filthy and the bathroom was none too clean. Water pressure from the shower was poor and the water was luke warm. When I opened the fridge, the door came off in my hand. Breakfast was an ordeal, There were no plates, a memeber of staff went to fetch some for my wife and myself then gave them to somebody else and disappeared. When we eventually got plates, several of the breakfast items had run out. We had what was available and went to get coffee - no cups. When the cups arrived, we joined the back of the growing queue, then the coffee ran out! I then went for some fruit to finish my breakfast, no plates again. Most of the staff, with a couple of exceptions, were generally unhelpful and appeared unhappy.
On the positive side, the food and drinks at the poolside and lobby bars were good.

I'm glad we were only there for one night and would not use this hotel again.

My friend and I stayed there in February of 2005 so this is a little late. However, I have to say that for all of the times I have been to Havana, 5 in total, and staying at various low priced hotels (I like to travel cheap) the bungalows at Comodoro was the best $50 a night hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere. Now with that said, the difference between the Comodoro Hotel proper and the bungalows is like a tale of 2 hotels. The dank, dark, poorly maintained and dreary main building is a stark difference to the bungalows which were modern and bright.

Both of our rooms were like mini apartments without a stove. Maybe a little well used but let me tell you that I paid about the same at the Pan Americano and there was no comparison. The Bungalows were great.

The pool seems to run by each covered patio to each room. I don't know what they are like today in 2008 but 2005 they were in great shape and just an overall good time. We were allowed to go to the main hotel for restaurants and the breakfast which was plentiful and USA-like brunch style, on the other hand you were stopped and asked for a room identification going into the bungalows which kept the throngs of people from turning the pool area into a Motel 6 pool and that kept things peaceful. The all night restaurant/bar was great coming home at 2 or 3 in the morning and the food was delicious.

The one thing I didn't like was that Miramar is far away from the real action in Havana which is in Vedado, Centro and Old Havana so everything was reached by taxi although arguably you could get to Vedado by walking a couple miles. I would stay at the Comodoro again in the bungalows but not the main hotel.
