Decided to book a two centre holiday in Cuba, three nights in Havana and seven nights in Jibacoa. We chose Ambos, because it was fairly small and becuase of the history with Hemingway.
We were not disappointed with it, the lobby had an old-fashioned 30's feel to it, with the pianist playing and the bar being the main focal point. The roof top restauarant was also a delight and the food was good. The room was basic but clean and fuctional, however the air-con decided to pack up on the last day! And you do need it as a respite for the heat and humidity.
The hotel was perfectly located in Old Havana and was in a pedistrainised area so you didn't have cars running up and down.
The only criticisms I have are that some of the staff, especially in the restaurant and at reception, do not give that welcome feeling and and sometimes have to wait a while to be seen to. Also, due to the history of the hotel, it is on the guided walk tours, so you do get a lot of groups coming in to the lobby during the day. Overall this is a great hotel in which to stay in Havana.
