After being the last passengers to be dropped off the transfer bus we were extremely pleased with this hotel (compared to the others). Both externally and internally it is beautiful.

The location is a long walk from the Old Town of Havana and if you are two girls I wouldn't advise walking. To be honest the taxi's are so cheap it isn't worth doing the 45 minute walk.

The grand restaurant in the main lobby of the hotel is stunning and is extremely cheap (even though it doesn't look like it will be). Food in Cuba isn't great so don't expect fantastic cuisine in general.

I was a little worried about staying here after reading the reviews but it was just wonderful. They have done a great job of keeping the style in whic it was built. May be a little old fashioned for some. But it was clean, comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms have been renovated or at least refurbbished. We found the service excellent. And we had one of the best meals anywhere - a great special of 2 course and a glass of very good wine for only USD25 - great value for one of the best restaurants in the city. We travel a lot and stay in some great hotels and while this may not be in the same class as Burj Al Arab in Dubai it was certainly a very nice stay.

The hotel is nice in the common areas but not very clean/functional. The staff has a terrible attitud (as most people in cuba don't have a service culture at all). You can get very lucky if you find one or two very helpful people in the hotel.

The location is great, still not value for money.

Spent four nights at the Nacional and loved it - beautiful hotel and great location. Whilst its not in the old town we preferred being able to escape when things got hectic and enjoy the more peaceful surroundings of the Nacional. The bar is one of the most beautiful settings looking out across the gardens to the sea.

We found a couple of lovely places to eat in walking distance from the hotel - inparticular Restaurant El Torre which is on the 33rd floor of a residental block as has fantastic views of the city - also has a seperate bar which is good for cocktails at sunset

The rooms at the Nacional aren't large or modern but ours was fine and was in fitting with the hotel. We requested a sea view before we arrived which we got.

We also did the hotel tour which takes about an hour and was very interesting.

We loved the Nacional and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the history of Havana but also wants the chance to escape and relax

magnificient and historical building in Vedado area. A little far from the old town so we stayed here 4 days and visited the surroudings, then moved to another hotel in the old town.

good breakfast, nice staff, rooms are average and clean. Prices are high for what you get. You need to pay extra to access the gym which was a little disappointing. The view is splendid. The Mojitos were the worst we have had.
