We stayed here for 2 nights. Although not our western standard of a 5 star it made up for it in history and atmosphere. We have to say this is a beautiful hotel with an amazing history. You feel like you have stepped back to another era. For Cuban standards the room was comfortable and the staff was fairly friendly.
The veranda and ball rooms were beautiful.
The breakfast buffet was decent although the coffee was not up to par. Try going to the Veranda and ordering a coffee there, it's much better!
We had dinner one night at the restaurant on site called La Barrucca. It was absolutely delicious. Truly one of our more enjoyable meals in Cuba. Staff was friendly and courteous. Beware though that fruit cocktail is actually a fruit salad and not a drink!
The tour booking agent on the main floor was very friendly and helpful as well.
Overall we would recommend this hotel if you want to experience some old world Cuban glamour.
