When you're sick of the average food and so-so service which is endemic to so very many restaurants in Havana, you must go to Doctor Cafe and be reminded that service can be good, food can be cooked properly, and bread can be served fresh (I'm told it's made in house, and judging by the excellent quality I believe it).
Freshness is central to the restaurant, which is why there's no written menu. I especially recommend the fish ceviche for an appetizer, and really anything offered that night for a main course. The chef always seems to have an interesting twist on the ingredients, elevating simple dishes to a much higher quality (by Cuba's standards, but by international standards as well, make no mistake!).
